guys pretty underrated YouTube reviewer. he has solid reviews though and tells it how it is, maybe a bit of a bias but I can't pinpoint it

Thanks for posting. He presents a lot of very subjective opinions on things like perceived 'cheesiness', design elements and material choices, why KIA made certain manufacturing decisions, etc. I have differing opinions on many of them, but it was an interesting view.

I'm not sure why they cut in clips like tearing off the rear cargo cover and tossing it in seeming disgust - what was that all about? And I was surprised to hear his complaints about rattles and noises, as my car has been very quiet, almost vault like - even over rough surfaces. But again, always good to see a different viewpoint ...

I would agree that the suspension is absolutely on the soft side. Took my first canyon run a few days ago, and quickly learned to temper my expectations. It dives and rolls too easily. Now that wasn't what the car was meant for, but still it was the first time the car made me feel uneasy.

Now i'm also coming from a Golf R which is an absolute amazing canyon carving machine so i'm coming from that level of experience. I just wish the variable suspension they put in the stinger would have a greater difference between comfort and sport. To me right now it feels like at most it is 10% difference, when really it should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 30%.

He did say it was a press car. I had heard those were pre production models so I wasn’t surprised to hear that. Although during the review, the car sounded quite quiet to me.

He's more objective then most .

Maybe it has something to do with it being q press car?

I agree with your point on the suspension. I wonder if Kia can roll a software update to increase the performance of the shocks. Chevy did something similar to the Corvettes. I’d be willing to pay for a new tune, if it wasn’t a crazy price.

Yes he was a bit savage when he did that!

Lots of these reviewers nit pick but you have to realise if you had all the stuff they hate the car would cost a hell of a lot more. You can’t please everyone all of the time.

I appreciate his review as he compared it to the G80 Sport and showed you some of the ares they did some cost cutting compared to it. He did however, like other reviewers, comment on how KIA cribbed design cues from other automaker. I don't think Mr Schreyer would appreciate that. This is not the KIA of old where some things were a blatant copy. I think people forget that these things aren't exclusive to any brand and while designing a vehicle it is bound to look similar to others on the market as everyone is following a similar 3 box design philosophy.

I'm hoping that KIA revises the adaptive suspension on the 2019 version so the Sport mode feels much different to the other settings (as others have mentioned it does not do much) and improves the handling even more.

Yes he was a bit savage when he did that!
from seeing his old videos I get a feeling he hates messing with trunk, hatch compartments, I've seen him be pretty hard on auto hatches that close to slow lmao, I dont think it's a personal kia jab tho

Didn’t realize g80 had front double wishbone suspension. Wish they had kept that on stinger

Not surprised about the rattles. That press car has been treated like absolute crap for 5k+ miles. It no doubt was part of a first run and it’s been around since the debut. He’s likely the 20th journalist to rag this particular car out.

I’m sure Kia gave him that car because they know how he treats a press car based on a long history of his videos. He drives cars like he doesn’t own them. And he doesn’t. I have zero rattles. And I’ve never been interested in holding my engine at redline and peeling out on gravel roads.

He had a press car, he’s not a bad reviewer. I watched a few of this other videos and he’s not afraid to point things out. The only thing I find with his reviews there based on track and performance, nothing to do with everyday use, he doesn’t show the back seats in most of his videos.

yes good point its like he has a performance issue with every car he reviews, yet does not give good examples of where they may excel in everyday functional use

Like Savagegeese and don't take issue w/ a lot of of his criticisms aside from his commentary on design (which is off base).

Savagegeese definitely takes a more enthusiast approach to his reviews compared to say, Alex on Autos - who has a more holistic approach.
