Satellite Navigation Map Updates

In Australia the stinger has 10 year free Nav updates not that they are the latest when you do get them.

I'm not too concerned about updating because the car supports Apple CarPlay or Android Auto so i'll be using the navigation on my iPhone via CarPlay instead of the Kia maps. I was very impressed with the CarPlay navigation and the fact that I can simply summon Siri to take me somewhere with a voice command makes it a seamless experience. Only downside is CarPlay does not work wirelessly.

Agreed. I am the same with Android auto. Just speak and away it goes!

@Chillgoon had a great idea of getting a discussion going about satellite navigation map updates and what the process will be to have them updated. Let's keep this discussion about the process and any opportunities to do so...

In the Multimedia System manual that someone posted here, IIRC it states the map data is supplied by 'Here Maps', which was purchased some time back from Microsoft/Nokia by a consortium consisting of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. It will be interesting to see how updating and accuracy proceed over time.

Wireless Android Auto is coming so Apple CarPlay won't be far behind...
Kenwood will be one of the first to offer wireless Android Auto

If I wanted to get a GT with navigation, could I just buy the SD card from a dealer?
We bought my wife a new CX9 last year and the dealer said that’s how easy it is to get satnav now if it’s SD equipped
