RPM "locks" at about 4000 rpm during hard acceleration

Yeah. People don't understand the lemon laws. Usually a dealer has 2 chances to fix something and one last chance, where if unsuccessful, they have to buy the car back or provide a new car. This takes putting a letter together with the documentation (the prior service attempts) and sending the letter, but it's not all that big of a deal to do. If people were doing this for the brake VIBRATION problem, I bet Kia would come out with a real fix REAL QUICK, rather than the half-ass continual replacement of brake pads. The other option is to take them to court for a class action lawsuit (of the brake vibration issue, since it's widespread), but the much easier option would be for people to start demanding compliance with the lemon law.
I'm in Canada.... no lemon laws here. The similar path would have been more burdensome then what I went through.

holy cow Canada has no lemon laws? So what happens when you purchase a defective vehicle?!?!?!?

Would it be under some other consumer protection laws? I know many European countries have some pretty stringent consumer protection laws.

Bringing everyone up to speed here. 9 visits to the dealership later (and nearly 2 years!) I believe the issue is finally resolved. They ended up replacing both the high pressure and low pressure fuel pumps. 2 weeks without another incident since the replacement.

At first they replaced just the high pressure fuel pump, then it became damaged (within 2 weeks) as a result of the low pressure pump issue. So they replaced it again when replacing the low pressure pump.

Glad to have this all behind me!
Update: Less than a year later and probably only 5,000 more km's, the issue has returned (< 25,000 km's on the car in total). I'll be scheduling an appointment with the service center ASAP. Really glad I have the crazy warranty on this car.... the odds of me buying the vehicle after the lease ends is getting lower due to this issue :(

Update: They have replaced both the High and Low Pressure fuel pumps again. So far that is 3 replacements of the low pressure fuel pump and 2 replacements of the high pressure fuel pump. Asking what Kia is doing to prevent this from occurring again and awaiting an answer....

^^^Looking like the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over again and hoping for different results.

Yep. I asked the Service Mgr to contact HQ and ask them what they are going to do to prevent this from happening again - obviously an issue with something up/downstream causing it.

They called today and said HQ recommended that I don't allow the tank to go below 1/4.

I said this was unacceptable, limiting the use of the vehicle. Where does it say that in the product offering for the vehicle I purchased that I shouldnt drive it below 1/4 tank or limit my max distance of driving to 300-350km's at a time.

Jeez, at this point I'd be asking the dealer if they can work out some kind of deal to move you into a new lease or finance deal.
