Roof wrap questions

I'm no expert on drip rails but I'll ask again as I did before, what happens if those gray rubber strips are not there? Mine are actually all black since they were all Halo EFX'd (fancy name for plasti-dip +)
Runoff will mostly go below the drip rails, I am sure. Probably not good! I just took a couple of pics of my left and right drip rail rear ends, up really close. What I originally took for light grey, unpainted (and thus not noticed against the Silky Silver before), I'm now suspecting is Silky Silver spray paint alright. I guess I didn't look at them closely enough before (and the light was not the best, being deep evening).

I'll ask my question here too: how did they handle the narrow rubber strips on either side of the drip rails? Supposedly, judging from recent comments about this, those can't be wrapped.

I'm not entirely sure. When I dropped my car off the installer wasn't there yet and when I picked it up he was already gone for the day. So never got to ask and I didn't stay there for the install. I picked it up and everything I asked to be wrapped was, including those drip rails.

The rails are not the questionable part; it's the rubber strips running down each side of them. Those can't be wrapped, so I read a few days ago.

One of these days maybe I'll pry mine loose to have a peek underneath. Those rubber side strips don't exactly seal tightly against the roof panel. I'd kind of like to remove the Halo EFX and just wrap them black. But it would be so much easier without those rubber strips.

By the way, nice and clean as always Merlin. Although I do think I saw a spec or two of dust. LOL

I only dust my car once a day, usually before driving. That black spec will be gone!:D

Looks great NIU! Shit....add a full black chrome delete to my to-do list lol. I was strongly considering it when I saw Lawrence's car and now seeing it on the HCR I'm sold! That's a great price to have all of that done too! Damn....does this modding shit ever end??? This is the first car I've cared enough about to personalize with modifications and this is turning into a disease...CAN'T STOPPPPP! Talk about opening Pandora's box jeeeeeeez. Ok...I'm gonna do the chrome delete and the Eibach sway bars then I'm done

@NIU_Huskies did you see the other pics in the DM ? I added you to view

Hey there, stumbled on this thread, I was wondering if you could send me the other pics also, so I can go get quotes from a few shops, new account here so idk if i can dm or such.

I got the white car myself n the chrome is grown out on me. Looking to get a debadge, wrap the roof, and the chrome door pieces etc

Anyways thanks in advance if you can or can't send em. The few photos show it looks really good with the two tone :)

Hey Lawrence, I was wondering what you had done to your rims. Those appear to be the stock but they’re gloss black. Did you get them painted or wrapped?
Fascinating coincidence: I just came from another (resurrected) thread about blacking out the OE wheels. You get an "A" on your first post. :D Welcome to the forum.

My OE wheels are powder coated. The KIA caps are painted.

Haha I appreciate the “A”! They look great so I was wondering. I’m leaning towards doing something like that with mine. About how much did it cost you?

@MerlintheMad
I just took pics at night nonetheless.....I, as you well know, had A pillars and each piece wrapped.....nearly a year ago.....I can get more pics tomorrow but yes everything wrapped

P.S. ignore the filth!

Did they not wrap down far enough to cover the white you see on the back edge of the roof? My biggest fear is seeing white though the door jambs or the hatch opening.

The rain gutter covers look like they are going to be a bitch and the fact that the rubber has been painted white it is white, throws a little more challenge in there.

My normal wrap shop quoted $750-$1000 to do the pillars to match the hood body line to the bottom of the front door window trim and complete the rest of the pillars roof, piece on hatch and the shark fin.

Seemed a little high but the guy does not cut against the car. Uses knifeless tape for everything and is more OCD than I am.

Here is another project I had him do for a show and magazine feature.

To resurrect a old thread, I'm looking to wrap my white stingers roof,a pillars, shark fin, side vents, grill... So what have you guys done about the rubber on drip rails? Can a guy buy factory black drip rails? Did ya leave the rubber white? Is it noticeable?? Did ya Plasti dip the whole rail? My wrap guy claims he can wrap the fin without taking it off, anyone else had that done?

I just had this done a few months back to my SWP. I replaced the white drip rail trim with black OEM replacements. They are a bit metallic but I went with a black camo textured roof.

I sold my Stinger about a year ago. It's possible to wrap that fin with it still on. But it will also compromise the roof wrap too as he wouldn't be able to get the wrap all the way under the fin. The people who wrapped my car also wrapped the trim and it held up pretty good.

Very nice, I like the extra black in back.. did they remove the fin to wrap it? My Kia dealer parts guy told me you can't ordered painted drip rails, I was looking for the black ones, I have a hard time believing that
