Rock-1 Windshield-0. Glad it wasn’t the roof though.

I saw the damn thing falling from the sky and I slowed down enough to where it wouldn’t hit the sunroof. Safelite quoted me right at $800 for an aftermarket replacement including labor. $1200ish for an OEM. I’m going through insurance and want the OEM of course. They said small chance insurance would make me pay the difference in aftermarket vs. OEM, but 99% they’ll approve direct OEM. Safelite will do the recalibration and all that jazz...my 2 year old is mad that something “hit the race car”. Funny thing, the guy from Safelite was very interested and complimentary of the Stinger haha. He was asking about the power and features.

The creepiest things I ever saw "fall" off a flatbed truck (years ago) were the top boards on a stack that peeled up and into the sky as the truck was entering the freeway. I was directly behind said-truck. Half a dozen or so of these eight or ten foot long boards, I figured 1 x 4, then came straight down like javelins. I was craning my neck to see them through the top of my windshield, but they disappeared over my roof. It was time to gun it! But the truck was right there. One after the other the boards came down right behind our rear bumper and turned to match wood all over the road. Imagine how that could have gone down in a Stinger with a sunroof, not missing the car!?
Yep HUD. It fell off a flatbed, took a bounce and shot way up. I couldn’t go left or right.

....but it would have been a cheaper , easier fix ................either way glad it wasn't worse !

They’ll apply the $75 for the fill towards the cost of my glass coverage. I wanted to avoid them tearing out everything involved in replacing the glads.

In Australia it has to be replaced by a Kia dealer as all the tech on the windscreen has to be calibrated. Very expensive to fix, approx $2500 AUD I think. Definitely go OEM, Good luck!

Yeah OEM glass is on the way. My fear was them having to tear out all the trim and electronics. They’ll recalibrate it.

Most glass shops can handle these types of windshields , I know our dealers send them all out ...

That's a bummer. I'm in a fab shop so I'd have to drop it off at a dealer if it happened to me.

Crap! Nasty! Get to it quick, whatever it takes, or you're going to have to replace the entire windshield (and invite extraneous noises because of the tear down and reassembly).

My dealer says repair is possible but he would recommend a replace .. I’m afraid of the noises :( or other damages like scratchers or damaged uh.. ? Roof ? well the insurance has to say what will be the right part

.................they pull them out on a mechanical arm in good shops I would not be too worried about damage , lots of sensors etc that will need to be recalibrated so make sure the shop is reputable

Lucky, it is not a stocked part; I had a rock break the glass piece between the windshield and the sunroof on my Genesis, it spider-ed and started to crumble into pieces; glass shop put clear tape over it to keep pieces from falling off, had to drive it like that for three weeks because it took them that long to locate the part; ended up ordering it from a Hyundai dealership in TX.
