Road/tire noise.

I can promise you this: if my car had the slightest issue with this, I would have ceased with the high speed "experiments" long before I got to 100+ MPH. When the tires are in perfect balance, no vibration occurs at any speed. And the faster you go the more "hunkered down" the Stinger feels. Vibration at lower speed would make the car unstable and scary at high speed.

Warped rotors also cause vibration. However, unlike out of balance tires, you will notice it at lower speeds much more.

Out of balance tires will not reveal themselves until 58-85 mph.

Have your brakes checked.

I highly doubt it's my brakes since the problem did not start until I got new tires, but that will be my next step

I've been in your exact shoes. Sometimes other sounds become noticeable when others go away. Your new tires at quieter, so now you notice other things.

Best of luck

Got my tires balanced for a 3rd time today, this time from a shop other than Kia. They found that both my fronts were out of wack and corrected them. It did drastically improve my ride, however, this still did not 100% make the vibration go away. I took my invoice to Kia and talked to the service manager. In 2 weeks when I'm in for service we are going to swap out wheels and tires with another Stinger on the lot to see if the issue still remains. If the problem is gone with OEM tires, I may be dealing with bad or out of round tires at which point I should be getting replacement rubber under warranty. If the vibration is still there, I have another issue on my hands. I feel it from 45-55mph then it goes away until I hit about 72. It's such a high frequency vibration that I bet most people won't notice it. Just like my crappy cruise control surge that nobody feels except me.

Would this vibration be bad enough to make a high speed run unwise or impossible? Because if the vibration does not increase when you take it well over 100 MPH, I think you are concerned over something that is too refined to be pursued by mere mortals. Your only recourse is to obtain tools and fix it yourself (unless you can find an equally OC person who has a shop who will not rest until the vibration is gone; good luck!).

I did hit 115 after the work was done today and I can tell you the vibration does not get worse at high speeds and I did not feel uncomfortable. However at that speed I am more worried about focusing on the road than worrying about little stuff like that. I probably am splitting hairs at this point, but I can tell you one thing. My dealership did not balance my wheels correctly. Twice.

I believe you. It is two different issues that you are talking about here: a technical issue and a dealership competency issue. Which is the more troubling? Both need attention. At least when you know a service center is crap you can go somewhere else: unless you are @Salman and Huda; then you are stuck with the one Kia dealership in the whole desert. (By the way, where are those two these days? I am a bit worried that they are facing troubles; maybe Huda can't drive anymore!? I PMed @Salman a couple of days ago but haven't heard back anything.)

I replied to their posts awhile ago and haven’t heard, either.

Hey @MerlintheMad and @Joseph Spiegel, We're all right, just got carried away the last few weeks with the new Job and @Huda with the mid-term college exams.

Btw, I completely agree with Merlin, "if you know a service center is crap you can go somewhere else" unlike my situation, I'm stuck with one diluted service center, I'm bothered with a couple of issues with the car, but there is not one damn thing I could do about it. And once the time comes when I have the free time and energy to fight with them, I'm always afraid that they'll bring back my car worsened much more when it got in. That's a nightmare I'm always dreaming about..... :(

Very happy to hear you two are doing well. I was hearing some nasty stuff and a bit worried, more about Huda but both of you over all. Is there a Kia help line that bypasses the dealer? We have that here not sure if it’s in other countries. Hopefully the issues aren’t critical and you two get to enjoy the car.

@Joseph Spiegel @MerlintheMad
I am really happy in regards of your interest and keenness, I apologize so much, I was extremely busy with my studies and exams which seems to never end!!

However your question about us were heartwarming and made my week :) <3

Yeah, there not critical at all; some crackles once the sonroof shade is open, front bumper not entirely tight-up and some brake disk/pad noises which I believe is normal.

Heheh! Blowing sand, come on man, that has to get in there and produce extra noises that most of the world doesn't have to deal with. Am I right? Especially brakes noises, I would imagine.

I recall your balls to the wall scream across the desert to Dubai (or was it to Abu Dhabi?), hitting the speed limiter of 167 MPH; and the picture you posted afterward, of your front splitter pushed DOWN!? So, that is still an issue. I think that some fasteners of the bumper to the fenders or the splitter are off kilter somehow, or else that splitter would never have separated from the bumper. My guess is that your car has not recovered since that test of her speed. I got up to 155 and not the first hint of misalignment showed. So I think that your car needs looking at in that regard. I totally share your suspicion that your service people could screw this up. It isn't a warranty issue that I can think of. So, ask around for someone proven to be competent at examining for such things, before taking it to your sole Kia service center!

Is this problem only occurring in the cars with 18" wheels or is it happening with the cars with staggered 19's also?

I ask because I am looking at buying a 2018 GT1 with 18s or a 2019 GT1 with 19s.

I am VERY sensitive to stuff like this and I noticed a buffeting pressure in my ears at about 35-45 mph on both cars I tested with 18" wheels.
I have not driven a car with 19's yet as the 2019 is on a truck to the dealer right now.

I have a 2019 g2 with Michelin tires. The road noise is intolerable from these tires. Dealer said because I had a 2017 Audi a4 that it was much quieter because it had coated windows. Any suggestions?

19" or 18" wheels?

It has to be the 19’s as they are the size with Michelin’s. The Stinger could use some thicker or a glass that offers better sound isolation. You can change to a tire with less noise but keep in mind that most ultra high performance tires will be noisy. If you plan on driving hard and want the best grip, you will lose some quiet in return. Plus they are also firmer riding.

Thanks!

I need to test drive a GT with 19" wheels.

Our front windows have sound proofing layers. Roll the window down half way and look down at the top of the glass. Do the same for the rear door, no layering.
