• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Ran into an issue recently. I was doing an oil change on my 2019 kia stinger(bought used last year) and i noticed there was decent oil leak on the rear main seal area. I have also noticed that the temp gauge never gets to half and only a notch from half. I thought no problem as I should have warranty and took the car to chantilly kia only to have them turn down my car for service citing that it has a catch can(bms zero maint) and would not entertain looking at it. Now I bought it and it came with the catch can but I am shocked and upset that this even happened. Anyone experienced anything like this? The service advisor even suggested taking it to another dealer

Technically the dealer would need to prove the catch can caused the oil leak from the rear main seal (doubt they could).

In either case, I've never been a fan of Ourisman (I'm assuming you're talking about the Ourisman Chantilly Kia). Personally I'd recommend bringing the car to Dulles Kia. They seem to be a little more friendly when it comes to people who do simple bolt ons. If you're really concerned, you can always remove the catch can prior to going.

The CC created too much internal pressure leading to the main seal blowout... Is that what they're claiming?

sounds like your service advisor knows the dealer is garbage and more or less telling you to find somewhere that is not.

if its the BMS catch can, you should be able to just remove it from the car and put the hose back where the other end was connected to. Feel free to post photos for sure though to help out more.

Here's the install directions. Basically do it in reverse. https://www.jb4tuned.com/instructions/stinger_occ_install.pdf

Basically...You remove the catch can from the middle, it's pretty simple.

Once again though, I've heard mixed stories about Ourisman Chantilly when it comes to mods. Basically they'll ignore certain mods if you bought the car from them and if you have a good reputation with the service manager. Otherwise they'll pretty much refuse to do any work. There's a few others from here that were in a similar situation. Give up on Ourisman for your service needs if you have mods and if you don't have any form of reputation with their service manager. The fact that they completely refused just because there was a catch can on the car is a sign.

Should I be worried my car also has bms air filter

Unless the filter is directly related to your issue, then no, HOWEVER, if your dealer is using a catch can as an excuse to not warranty your rear main seal, they will use anything they find against you, so in this case I would either remove it, or find a different dealer.

This is only In regards to what a dealership will say. I had an electrical issue in my 2018 driver seat that was affecting several items. Kia told me that my radar detector was interfering with the electrical in the car and that they would not cover the work. I handed the service manager the radar detector and drove the car basically around the block and the problem continued. I went back and he witnessed the problems and they had to stand behind it but my point is these dealerships will say anything to get out of repairing anything if they can.

Sorry it posted twice…
