Removed KIA hood badge to replace with E-Badge, but....

So, finally took off the hood badge to put on the E-badge, but found a eraser size ding covered up by the original badge. Unfortunately, the E-badge being not as wide will keep it uncovered, aarggh.... how good are those color pend for this kind of ding? Anyone with a good tip and experience? I have the ceramic grey color GT2.

Do you mean like a pencil eraser or one of those rectangular erasers?

Those pens are made for really small jobs that are already hard to see from afar.

The paint will be raised above the car's paint so you will also need rubbing and polishing compounds. The rubbing compound will smooth the paint back down and the finishing compound will remove any imperfections and return the gloss to the paint.

But, if it's the size of the rectangular erasers I would have it professionally repaired if I were you.

Thanks, yes, it is the size of a pencil eraser, actually about half that, 2 mm across at most.

I would try the pen first. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and you have to pay a bunch of money to have it fixed. Best case scenario it does work and you don't have to pay a bunch.

Either scenario I think the$10 for the pen would be a good place to start.

Well, least crazy will be putting the original badge back on.... it would cover it up as before.

YES! Already ordered one... will see how the color pen works and make a decision then; I will have both in hand. Once concern, the oval one does not have the pins to align, how tricky and permanent is the sticky 3M tape? Is this one shot type deal - make sure it's straight?

Alignment really isn't that difficult but if you don't get it right - you can always buy more 3M tape and re-do it. 3M tape is what holds most badges on vehicles these days - and they pretty much never come off. I mean - even in a bad accident - they don't fall off. Hyundai/Kia might be the only brand that still uses some type of pin/post to attach badges. They're unnecessary...
