I removed the small STINGER emblem from rear but underneath was a noticeable (see below) impression left by the emblem.
So when viewed from an angle you could see the outline of the letters.
It's as if it was placed on the back before the paint was totally dry.
Also a couple of small dots of paint came off.
I also wanted to replace the Kia badge with the larger STINGER emblem but backed off.

Has anyone had the same experience?
Any fixes, i'e. compounding/polishing outline of letters off rear?

Decided to reapply the emblem, until I can figure out what to do.

Can't see the picture. But if it's what I think your talking about rubbing compound can probably take it out. I had the problem on my old evo.

How old is car? What did u use to take it off.

My clear coat was scratched under the rear emblem - all around the outline of the oval. It's deeper than what a compound can take out and have to take it to a paint shop. I put the emblem back on until I have time to deal with it.

Yes, 4wheelpiolet just get that part of trunk painted. When i had holes filled on trunk plain and simple, cause paint not faded or near old!

All you need is Dental Floss and time and patience. I did my front and back the same with no problems. Goo Gone after to remove remaining adhesive. If you get impatience and start trying to pry off with fingers, that's where youll end up with trouble.

Even though the picture is not showing on your post (may want to fix that so we can better help you) I know what you are referring to, as I noticed it myself.

Yes, the emblem was placed on the hatch before the clear was fully cured, the is why you have the impression. What I did was measure my paint depth and did a wet sand (1000, 2000, 3000) then polish.

Didn't take or post a picture as I reapplied the stinger emblem.
Your explanation seems consistent with my problem.
What depth gauge do you find accurate?

Do you also use a blow dryer to loosen adhesive with the dental floss?

No heat of any kind. Double up or Quadrople the Floss. Get a good grip and begin sawing with a slight constant pull upwards. The Floss will snap from time to time but fortunately there is tons of floss inside the case.

I did all the badges in the rear and front the same way. No issues , no scratches, No chips.

I have fishing line. Will that work?
Yes, that will be find if not better. I don't have fishing line and wanted to use what I had. Remember the KIA sign has the pegs so it wont saw all the way thru. Saw Left side , Right side, Top and bottom. Most important is the constant upward pull while sawing. Not crazy hard pull but just enough to create separation between the fishing line and your paint. To be honest , the safest bet is using the Dental floss as there is no risk of it scratching your paint.

Thanks. Appreciate your advise.

I removed the Kia badges and the dealer sticker this weekend. The dealer sticker left a shadow from the glue. After multiple passes with the Goo gone I wasn’t able to remove the shadow. I used my DA polisher and Meguiars ultimate cutting compound on the rear deck.

After a quick pass with the DA I could see any signs of the dealer sticker or the Kia Badges.

I did put a small gouge in my front bumper using plastic body panel tools. I was impatient and didn’t spend enough fine working the fishing line to remove the front Kia badge.

I used nylon string, no issues, front and rear badges all look great, just some fine scratches that i will be buffing out this week. However i realized the rear emblem was very slightly lower and the holes are visible upon close inspection....FAIL
that being said i still ove the look
