I went on kia.com here in the USA and discovered on the build your own link that you can now get a hi chroma red GT2 with a red interior. SWEET! You couldn't do that before.
I can see red in black (better to my eye than black/black) but I think red/red would be just a bit too much. And red leather would be more difficult to maintain, I would expect.
Many years ago I had a Plymouth GTX, bright blue metallic with white vinyl top (remember kids when they put vinyl tops on cars?) and white vinyl interior. Yes, it was vinyl, but it took a lot of effort to keep it clean, and eventually began to show a bit of wear and discoloration around the seams where clothing dye (I guess) wouldn't come out with cleaners.
not only do i remember vinyl tops, do you remember the paisley top on the mopar cars? my middle brother owned a firebird with white vinyl and the younger of my older brothers had a cutlass supreme with white velour. oooooh, that car was smokin!!!!! granted, he also wore a leisure suit at the time, but hey, it was still cool to a young kid.
Yeah, @Weareblondi my first new car was that '70 Plymouth GTX. Big Goodyear F60-15 tires with raised white letter. I re-badged it to look like a Belvedere and turned it into a "sleeper."
To me, the thing with the all black interior (as nice as it is) is, it's too much black. Black dash, black seats, black roof liner... it's too much for me. My favorite interiors for the Stinger is the red/black and light grey/black interiors. I like some contrast to break up the monotony. Personally I'd prefer a GT2 in Panthera Metal with the red and black interior but they don't make that yet for the GT2 in the USA.
I personally find the red interior to be very classy. I was sold on it the moment I saw it (the red on red pic I posted, one of the Korean market imports for display only.)
One of the things I love is that it still has a primarily black "front" interior, unlike some others (Porsche, for example) that even have a red dash - which looks horrific in my opinion. The Kia "red" is very deep/dark, and looks very luxurious.
I do actually like the look of the light grey, but it's impractical for me in a daily driver.
