Whats up guys? So my stinger is at a Kia dealership for warranty work one of the things is the rear main seal needs replaced, So I asked them to put a timing chain and water pump in. Has anyone else here do a timing job on the 3.3? I just hit 120k I've never seen or heard of 3.3 needing timing done? Any other recommendations to swap out while engine is out?

What does rear main seal have to do with timing chain? But while the engine is out, i would have replaced alternator, starter, engine mounts, thermostat.

The only relation between the rear main and the timing chain is that the engine is out of the car. And engine mounts isn't a bad idea either. Thank you for the info!

I certainly haven't seen anything common. Water pump is a good idea. The timing set probably doesn't need anything. There have been a bunch of different timing setups with failure points - bad plastic guides, bad tensioners - but I haven't heard anything about this generation of Kia engine. A good timing setup will last hundreds of thousands of miles. Regular oil changes are the most important factor there.

If I was doing it myself I would replace every gasket except the head gaskets. But since it's the dealer I wouldn't add anything besides the water pump. The likelihood of failure at this point is pretty low.

Have you replaced the spark plugs? If they're the original then they should be pretty well done.

Water pump on stinger is probably the easiest pump to replace I've seen on any car. It is very easy to replace with the engine in. So if it's not leaking ar making any noises, I would not worry about it.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Nothing else is wrong with the car, no weird noises. The timing chain cover had a oil leak the is covered under warranty same as rear main seal.Ill leave the water pump out. I have 3 Genesis coupes with the 3.8 and those timing chains fail a lot. Thank you guys
