Thanks! Didn't know that was a thing. Will be calling my insurance anyways because if I am out of a car for 2 months I also would like to get reimbursed for the car payments (if that is even possible )
Opposite parties insurance should pay for most things
1. Repairs
2. Diminished value
3. Rental cost for equivalent car
They won't make your car payment though.

I figured as much. Thought it was worth a shot! The monthly payment isn't bank breaking but it would have been nice to not pay it for the time it's not being used.
It is also a lease so I am not sure diminished value applies? I was looking to purchase when the lease was up (like to have my options open with a lease just in case).
My insurance has been helpful but I haven't been able to get a hold of my claim adjuster. Not sure what's up with that. Will probably call after the holiday weekend and see why he's not getting back to me or ask for someone else.
What an annoyance!

I finally heard back from my insurance. They have already paid the shop for my repairs and let me know that I can try to get diminished value from the other persons insurance, but they haven't even been able to get ahold of the other party's insurance. He told me that since my car is on a lease I shouldn't worry about it but am more than welcome to try. I am glad I went through my insurance to get started on my repairs, otherwise I would have been waiting around for the other insurance (who seems to be dragging their feet). Not sure what happens if they can't talk to the other insurance but as it is right now I am only paying my $500 deductible and my Geico bill went down $50 a month after the term renewed. I am not too stressed about it. Auto body shop is waiting on one more part that should arrive this week and then they can start repairs. Insurance can handle trying to get their money back.
If there is even a REMOTE possibility that you will buy it at lease end, you need to be fighting hard for diminished value that you absolutely deserve.
Did the person who crashed into you not have insurance? If they DID, that is the insurance company/policyholder who is responsible for making you whole again. I would NOT file a claim with MY insurance if this had happened to me-- and my wife is my insurance agent. While you were not a fault, it is still a CLAIM--not as bad as an "at fault", but not good either.
At the end of January I flew to St. Louis to pick up a 2022 Stinger Scorpion and drove it back to metro Detroit (St. Louis was the closest I could find a Scorpion selling for no more than MSRP). After having the car less than two months and with less than 1,000 miles on the odometer, somebody hit it in the Top Golf parking lot even though it was parked in the far lot with no other cars within 5 spaces. Of course the person who hit my car took off so I’m fully responsible for the repairs and the “diminished value” is on me. Repairs took two weeks and are still not complete. The car was returned so that I can drive it, but the fit of the panels still isn't right due to a broken support bracket. When the body shop called a local Kia dealer to order the bracket, they just laughed at him and told him that there’s not a single one of those brackets available anywhere in the US. It’s currently on order from South Korea. When/if it ever arrives I have to take the car back to have the work finished.
The police classified it as a “hit and run”. Based on where the car was parked and how far it was from any other cars in the lot, I’m about 90% certain that it was intentional. There’s a significant amount animosity towards foreign cars in the Detroit area.

Lots of times the other driver will refuse to cooperate with their insurance. In this case, the other insurance will deny the claim. The only way to proceed is to sue the other person, and when they are faced with a lawsuit, maybe they will decide to cooperate.
Don't forget to seek diminished value from the the other party's insurance. Not sure what all is involved, but I regret not seeking this when our car was hit while parked. Folks at carmax and others quickly identified there was body work done and thus reduced tradein.
Wish I knew about this when I got rear-ended late last year. Wonder why my insurance company never mentioned that this was a thing?? Does this address the gap in value after an accident? OP, hope everything works out for you.

I am so sorry! I would be livid!! You know, it seems to be that everyone "laughs" about getting parts which is annoying on top of having to deal with your car being messed up. My autobody shop scared me by saying "there are no parts, everything is national backorder" and then got most of my parts in 3 weeks. It might not be as bad as we are being told. I am still waiting on one part to be delievered and then they can do my fixes which should be next week.

I totally get it! At first I was hesitant too. But I wanted to get started ASAP. My deductible is only $500 (which I will get back) and the insurance company of the guy who hit me, I had never even heard of. The guy was also not a US citizen (he was from El Salvador and did not speak English) so I just felt really uneasy. I documented everything, photos of accident, location, guys El Salvadorian ID, Insurance, car, license plate, etc.
I don't know if it will affect me later, but my insurance went down $50 a month at the renewal term even though I'm going through the claim. I trust my insurance more to go after the other guys insurance. As it stands now, the other insurance hasn't even replied to the claim and it has been almost two months. I think I made the right decision, otherwise I would be paying this out of pocket while waiting and possibly having to hire lawyers. I was already stressed out enough getting in an accident with my new car and now not having a car for so long.
Yeah, my insurance informed me that I can file another claim with my claim number (with the other insurance provider) and ask for this. I think I am going to.
True. I guess I was thinking as far as consulting with my insurance company they could have mentioned that I can ask the other insurance company about it. Water under the bridge now, I guess!

Bought my new 2022 Stinger GT2 in January 2022 and LOVE IT!
Got rear ended this last week and was pretty devastated as I've only had it for less than 2 months and haven't even gone past 1000 miles yet.
As far as I can tell there isn't a lot of damage underneath from what I can see, and my car doesn't alert to any sensible damage. My trunk still closes but it does have some visible warping where the trunk meets the body inside.
Just took her in to a body shop today so they can estimate if there are any other repairs necessary.
My biggest issue right now is that because of the National Back order on pretty much EVERYTHING, they said my car might be sitting around for awhile waiting for those parts.
Hopefully they can get it fixed up just enough so I can drive it home without having to tow it again. What a nightmare.
Has this happened to anyone else recently? What was your experience with damage to the back end of these cars?
I am super worried because it was SO hard to find this color and model together. I had to drive almost an hour and a half away to another KIA dealership to get.
Just hoping she's back to new soon so I can keep enjoying it. I have so many plans for customizing!
Update:
All parts were finally delivered on 5/16/2022. It took a little under 2 months to receive everything, which is about as long as it seems to be for other repairs I've seen for this type of damage.
The bumper, which they told me would be the "quickest," was actually what held up my repair.
All other parts I needed for my repairs showed up at the shop within 3 weeks.
Hope that info helps anyone else who ends up in an unfortunate situation!!
