Everyone’s market is different, and there’s always someone out there who got a better deal. If it’s the last nearby in your color combo, the alternative would be passing it up for a 2020 with minimal changes and much lower incentives. Doesn’t sound like a good option for you.
On the other hand, things can be different once you’re in person at the dealer. If you’re willing to walk (or at least pretend by getting up and heading out the door) you could give them a “firm” number. Is the 39.9k OTD for an AWD GT1 off the table? If not that really isn’t too bad. Either way, 40k should allow any dealer some profit and be doable. May be worth a shot - at worst they let you walk and you sit in your car for a minute and go right back in. Best case they accept your offer, but in most cases they’ll counter something close. Just be firm - “I really need to be at this number or I’ll have to pass.”
