Guys I am ready to put my deposit down on either a stinger(1month delivery) or a genesis G70 sport (April delivery). In Canada pre orders for G70 are in 1 week.. I'm seeing the Genesis Dealer tomorrow.. Hopefully he will have a better idea on pricing.. But I suspect the G70 to be about 5k more than the stinger.. Is it worth it???

To be honest, I don't know. I pulled the trigger on the Stinger because I liked the look of the Stinger better than I did the G70. Don't get me wrong, the G70 is a nice looking car, but I like the Stinger more. :)

To me the Stinger has a more sport look and is a hatchback, but the G70 is more luxurious looking and not a hatchback. Really what you're looking for sporty or luxuary.

Personally, I like the color options better on the G70, I'm hoping for all the options including the 360 camera.

Is Hyundai doing the same BS as Kia...taking pre-orders without having released full details and pricing? I've been loosely following the G70 forums, and haven't seen anything final yet.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Welcome aboard, @kevin simard! And thank you for signing up. Well, let's see - what do you like about each car specifically? I mean - what do you like about the G70 over the Stinger - and vise versa? Or are you basically "even" and just want to know if the G70 will be worth a high price tag? I imagine there will probably be lots of markups for the G70 when it's first released - just like the Stinger. You may find yourself waiting a lot longer than anticipated to get a Genesis in your driveway...

Months back, when I started to think about trading in my Lexus vehicles, I wanted to try out a Genesis and continue to be in the luxury bandwagon. However, once I saw the G70 in pics, it was (is) a bit too conservative and derivative for me. When I saw the Stinger in person (which I prefer its styling), I was impressed with the build quality, tech, NVH, and performance. If styling is a tossup between the two, then badge and white glove service will be the differentiator for you to decide on since mechanically and tech, they are nearly identical.

If you find out about pricing, please share. I agree with your estimate to be about 54-55K for a loaded G70, or 4-5K more than a loaded Stinger in Canada.

What I like about g70:
-lighter than stinger.. Should be quicker
-higher end materials. Nicer interior.
-5 years of warranty with full telematics included(remote start from phone etc.)

What I like about stinger
- price
- cargo and legroom space. Love the fastback look
- car will be here in feb compared to genesis which won’t be here till April

Really torn, as I need to either put my deposit down before on Thursday for the genesis, or at my Kia dealer who has 2 stingers coming in the next couple weeks and have not been spoken for yet(going with white and red interior)..

Ugh! Decisions like this is so stressful..lol

Okay, well here's a little input on that. I hear the G70 will have more power - both more horsepower and torque. HOWEVER - the difference may only be "in print" as Kia is doing what BMW has been known for doing - for years... Under-rating the Stinger...

As for the G70s arrival - are you sure it'll be here in April? Are you guaranteed that it'll be here and ready for you to drive home? Because there's probably going to be a LOT of demand for that car - just like the way it is for the Stinger...

Right but we've all seen the Korean video where they raced them and the G70 won. So numbers aside the G70 is the faster car...

I figured that might have gone without saying considering the G70 is going to be noticeably lighter. But thanks for mentioning it for me.

Performance and interior quality will be just marginally better on the G70 so perhaps this should not be a big deciding factor. The G70 does come with 5 year free maintenance which is to be considered. The above aside, price and styling are the main differentiators so you have to ask which one you prefer to look at more and at what cost. Don't let the 2 months date difference be the decision maker since if you prefer the G70 more, you'll regret getting the Stinger once April arrives.

Good luck!

Another factor to consider is Genesis in Canada offers the luxury lifestyle (again, sorry USA). Delivery to home/work, car picked up for maintenance and leaving a loaner in the mean time, etc. (see video below). Luxury branding and badge alone might even affect resale value for the better, plus it may please the badge whores. These are some of my reasons I might wait for the G70.

On the other hand, the Stinger is more practical. It's bigger, has a hatchback, and essentially same luxury feel.

Either way, I cannot wait for my lease to be over and I'll be cross-shopping between these two for sure!

Not sure if Genesis’ are hand delivered in the states, but the service drop off/pick up is very much a thing here. They’ll even bring you a genesis to test drive, and if you work it out, you can sign paperwork, etc at your home or office. It’s a killer perk, along with the 3 year free scheduled maintenance, and something I’ll weigh as I’m deciding between these two cars (and others) going forward.

I've been to the Genesis dealerships a few times and have sat in a few G70s. There's actually one G70 in my apartment's parking lot which I walk pass it every day.

I am not sure how it will be for your market. In Korea though, the Stinger and G70 are identical in options and quality, just the size and styling differs.

So, don't expect better built-quality for the G70. Top trim will get the same nappa leather and all that as the Stinger. At the same time, the Stinger doesn't give you a better rear-leg room that the G70.

I personally wouldn't pay 5k less for the G70!

Then, there may some corporate strategy thing going on between Kia and Hyundai in other markets. In Korea, Stinger all the way!

I love the seats(how they look I mean cause I haven’t sat in them) that quilted leather interior looks nicer IMOP.. but the stingrr isn’t ugly ..not by a long shot..

Man, if you're not a member at GenesisOwners.com, boy would they love you over there. You have the G70 scoop they need...

The Stinger interior is not as nice as the G70 by any means. Not to mention the Sound system.....the suspension tuning is also completely different. I'm confused on the pricing structure though. If the pricing on G70 Sport is $57,500 Cad = $43,500 US why would I buy a Stinger GT2 for $50,000? (gt2 is also missing the 360 camera and wireless charging, while the G70 has both) I realize that USA pricing has not been revealed. To me the G70 is a sports sedan pure and simple, the Stinger as they say is a GT with above average build and materials. I'm personally going for the G70 ala the price fits

Where did you read such a thing?
The G70 has been on the roads for over 6 months here and it does not have more horsepower or torque. Same 365hp 376lb-ft...
