My recent jerky transmission issue has been diagnosed as being caused by rats or mice chewing wires ...................My Marina parking spot is close to the gargage bins ..............so maybe . The car is being fixed now , what do you guys think ??
I hope they showed you some evidence of same - if not, ask them to take some pictures for you, or keep what they replace to give back to you. A rodent chewed wire has a pretty distinctive appearance.
The car is heavily dependent on electronic controls, so it's certainly feasible that could cause a problem.
Got the car back , and its working fine now , the affected wires were re wrapped and taped so nothing replaced , I know Honda make a special tape with pepper that is specifically designed to repel rodents . I'm going to try and find some to apply to the obvious areas ..................
‘Absolutely nuts’: Squirrels hid 200 walnuts under this SUV’s hood

A Pennsylvania couple says they cracked up when they discovered the origin of a weird smell coming from the hood of their SUV.
It was nuts. Walnuts, to be specific.
Chris and Holly Persic say squirrels concealed more than 200 walnuts and several large clumps of grass under the hood of their SUV last weekend, much to their surprise on Monday.
Holly found the cache after she smelled something burning under the hood while driving to the library in Allegheny County, Pen.
“My wife called me from Northland Library and said that her car smelt like it was burning, and was making a weird sound,” her husband Chris wrote in a Facebook post.

I'm just glad it was extraneous causes and not anything going wrong with your car. The thing I was suspecting is that the transmission programming needed a reflash (there is that TSB on the trans logic).

Thanks Merlin , I've got a few options to protect the wires from " rats/mice " I've seen a few under hood products that emit sonic "type" noise to keep them out and I've noted several other DIY processes that supposedly keep critters away so I'll keep y'all posted

Wow, I wonder if the car had been stationary for long because that's a lot of grass and nuts, those squirrels have been very busy.
We don't have to worry about squirrels, just spiders and snakes.

Well I have seen said parking spot so that is a possibility. Squirrels this time of year are also looking for somewhere warm and those little buggers have been known to snack on wires. So I wouldn't confine the problem to the marina. So did/are they replacing harnesses or just fixing isolated areas.
