I'm on a laptop and the only links I've noticed more of lately are words in my post getting turned blue (linked to something, somewhere): I don't click on them anymore to find out what they link to.

...I understand why they exist (even though they shit me) but now I’m getting hyperlinks AND banner ads. I’m starting to feel like a battery hen being continually dripfed a diet of subliminal advertising until I give in and buy something.

Become a sustaining member, and maybe you'll be excluded from adverts? Not sure, though, as it doesn't actually say what the perks are.

Different browser, different browser settings, different platform (mobile vs pc/ios vs android), different security patches on whatever platform you're using, different OS versions of various platforms, etc...
