i was contemplating getting a radar detector but realized how pointless they are since they only warn you after you’ve been hit with any lasers. it’s essentially not worth it, i was ready to spend upwards of $600 for one. glad i didn’t, waze through carplay does a well enough job.

There’s ways to mitigate against laser but they are expensive and potentially illegal depending on your jurisdiction. You can look into that if lasers are really your concern…

Overall, radar detectors more than pay for themselves when it comes to anything but lasers.

Keep in mind the average cop is more likely to pull over and sportier looking car for speeding over common traffic vehicles even when they are traveling at the same speeds.

Besides the laser that I haven't been hit with, this has saved me a couple of tickets on radar the R8 is very persise and registers from long distance. Worth every penny, I moved it upto the top of the windshield to the right of the mirror
