Considering an exhaust system but really don't want much more if any increase in exhaust sound over stock and hopefully little to no droning, but of course improved air flow. Want to here more of that front intake, turbo, BOV sound.

Car is stock but soon to most likely order KnN Typhoon and the Velossa air ducts.

So.....leave stock exhaust or is there a current offering that comes close to not much of a exhaust sound increase and little to no drone?

heard the Magnaflow clip on k8stinger store and it did not sound too loud but after cursory search no reviews.

thanks.

and one more consideration, while the tune route surely seems best option to make any real additional power, it's honestly rather doubtful that i'll get that far. have dreams of getting out my Corky Bell turbo book and studying it again (forgot most of it from when I first read it about ten years ago when I thought I would put a turbo system on a Hyundai Tiburon...it never happened), but chances are the intake and the front air ducts will be the extent of it.

The order of most quiet catback would probably go:

Stillen
Magnaflow
Thermal

I've only seen promotional videos/sound clips of Stillen and Magnaflow so I'm not positive they actually sound like their advertisements.

I am also considering one of those 3. I think the thermal sounds the best of those 3 from the videos. Just not sure if the bass sound would annoy me. Never put on an aftermarket catback before...

There's another thread where people have talked about putting sound deadening in the spare tyre well to help with that sort of thing.

Thermal clip on k8stinger does sound good.
but why are there two muffler chambers on it?

Two of them are helmholtz resonators.

If you want power, save on the exhaust and do a jb4. Maybe some drop in filters w/ velossa ram air snorkels. For my $$ a new intercooler and piping along with some tuning for a silent but powerful beast.

If you don’t want to install downpipes the magnaflow it probably your best bet. I just installed the jun evc and downpipes with valves closed it’s just as quiet if not more quiet then stock. I had downpipes installed with oem catback before that and it just makes the tone deeper at lower rpms with throttle but maintaining speed it’s silent.

If all you're looking for is enhanced turbo sound, the K&N intake or any intake will give you that. No need to mess with the exhaust.

If you want a deeper tone from the exhaust, try adding a set of Down Pipes (they're really mid-pipes) as others have said. The risk you run with swapping the exhaust is cabin drone. You won't get that from mid-pipes. They're also half the price of an aftermarket exhaust and add a nice performance boost.

thanks again for all the info. am interested in the downpipes. while this should not be a huge concern, my ten year old daughter constantly complained that the previous mustang was too loud! thus, one reason want to keep things quiet.
the tune route is very appetizing but for poss warranty issues. from studying seems like you can uninstall the tune/bring back to stock parameters, but if something catastrophic happened, could they not run some type of vehicle data and see that the system was running out of stock parameters..... on this note, keep in mind that if anyone's plan was to take their mods off b4 bringing their vehicle into the dealer, they subsequently run into a warranty dispute, and it goes into litigation (or probably arbitration as i'm sure there are arbitration clauses in all that darn paperwork you sign to purchase) then Kia's defense attorneys could easily pull the social media posts where they speak of all their mods.
the warranty dilemma is especially applicable at this dealer as one of their big sells is 'forever' power train warranty on all new vehicles coupled with the fact that this is a year one new model, at least I think they have been putting these engines in a few other vehicles for a couple years though.

I am taking my thermal off my car to do a muffler delete. If you want one at a discounted price w/ 5k miles on, I am selling mine. $600 +shipping or local SoCal pickup.

SocalStinger...definitely keeping your offer in mind. TY
however, after yesterdays dealer's first failed attempt to fix the hatchback rattle and thumping issue starting to think I may need a loud exhaust to drown out that irritating noise from back there.
