well, yall convinced me. ordered the silenced mids, that deal is pretty good. A Borla is next I think.
The longer I have this exhaust on the more I like it.
Okay, I took my exhaust for a drive in sport and in comfort down a highway that has rolling hills. This highway for me is the worst for drone due to the high speeds and long climbs. The results were not what I expected. Around town the drone that I experience is almost non-existent. However, on the highway it was more than I expected in comparison to what I had experienced earlier around town. In my opinion and probably worse than my XForce exhaust that I had previously. I hesitate to say that because when I first received my Xforce exhaust the drone was almost unbearable, I expect that after I have this exhaust for a while it will be perfect. The exhaust reminds me of driving a V8 as it has a low rumble to it and seems to be fairly quiet unless I get on it. This exhaust is deeper in tone than what I had previously.
I measured my car exhaust from the cabin while I drove it between 65-75 on a 20 minute stretch of rolling hills and this is what I received:
Sport
Average: 67.9db Max: 80db
Comfort
Average: 69.4db Max: 82db
As you can see the lower RPM in comfort mode resulted in more cabin noise at the same speed. This can almost be completely attributed to drone while going up hills at low rpm.
Compare this to my Alfa Romeo that I drove on the same stretch for a comparison. Keep in mind that the 4C has no muffler and is pretty loud.
Average: 72db Max: 82db
The difference is that in no point did I hate how my 4C sounded, but I can't say that for the Stinger.
I was hoping this exhaust would be the panacea that I had been looking for, unfortunately it is not. However, this exhaust does has its own character that is distinct from the other exhausts that I have heard that sound trumpet like. This really saddens me because my 4C exhaust issues were fixed with by QuickSilver and with the Stinger it was not.
Here's a video if anyone is interested to hear what 4C with a quicksilver exhaust sounds like:
Big difference from yesterday...
This is where part of my stimulus check will be going if the discount is still available. Shhhhh......Without a flash tune or piggyback, really no reason to do plugs right now.
I am trying to get a count here and on the FB pages for who actually ordered the Quicksilver, and who plans on ordering it once they hear sound clips? Trying to keep the good faith and discounts flowing for as long as I can by giving a heads up how many will possibly be ordered
From the videos mbrp sounds better with just cat back so no need to pay extra and possibly void warranty with downpipes.
What am I talking about? Watch the video from both manufacturers. Quicksilver has downpipes+cat back for the video which consists mostly if a guy talking and not actually hearing the car. The mbrp is only cat back for the sound and compares stock to theirs. Personally and most people would agree the mbrp sounds better based on the 2 videos. So don't tell me I haven't done my research. Also, replacement of the catalytic converters can void your warranty. I understand they don't have sensors but if they want to be jerks they can. I emailed the service manager at my kia dealership and they told me cat back and intakes will not void warranty besides on the part itself. They said removing catalytic converters or tune would void the power train. You might want to do a little more research into what we are talking about with the Quicksilver exhaust...
We need to get you a proper microphone lol, that note on the cold start is getting totally clipped by that cell phone mic. The rest sounds pretty good though, maybe not as loud as some of the other exhausts out there but im really more interested in having freer flow without being too noisy. Have you noticed any gains or been on a dyno yet?
Had Stillen, this hands down spanks that system as far as quality and superb sound. And it is louder than the Stillen when on the throttle. Much cleaner sound, really has a deep bass sound. You can hear my car when on the throttle from over 1/4 mile awayThat's about as quiet as Magnaflow and Stillen. Not worth the time or money for me.
sounds pretty good to me so far! may get louder after a few days of driving?
