Hey all new to the site and I'm sure these won't be my last questions.

We bought a new 23 gt2 a few months ago. We debated on this car for a year lol. Main issue was the rear seat and space for our daughter. But it's a 3rd car so we decided we wanted a fun vehicle and pulled the trigger. We now have 5k miles on the car and love to drive it. The AWD has been amazing for the Twisties. The power is perfect for our needs.
We have run into some issues. First being the seat. I select the driver and get going. Then the driver choice on the screen pops up. I select myself and then the seat goes crazy pinning me to the steering wheel. I have to hurry and select my number on the door again and it goes back to where it was. What's odd is normally for this to happen you have to be in park. I think it's a software issue maybe? Tried to make a appointment at the dealer for a safety issue and was told they don't have time to look at it until 6 months.

Second question is about the nanny system. I like everything off when I'm driving the car. I've set everything to off and saved my settings. Issue is, it always turns everything back on. So I started turning off traction control fully and that still doesn't do it. Nothing worse than trying to pass and the gas is cut off and I get lights and warning noises. Is there a way to disable this stuff and the car to remember the settings?

My dealer here is the worst. But that's for another day.

Want to put new wheels on the car but can't decide on the 19in or 20in rim size. I'll probably wait until winter is over. That should give me some time to check out other cars on here and other places.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Hope to be a positive member to the site. Thanks!

I've talked to Kia corporate and there are some nannies that you simply can't turn off.

I despise Forward Safety and turn it off before I drive away. Smart Cruise Control is anything but smart. You can reduce it's intrusion but it's still a PITA.

Every car I've had had before this had proper cruise control. Set it and if you get to a downhill stretch, the cruise control lets you allow gravity to accelerate the car and give you better mileage. Smart cruise contral hits the brake. I don't know of any way to defeat that feature. Good luck. Don

Thanks, haven't had any issues with cruise. I did see that you can switch it to coast mode in the menu. I did do this, maybe that's what you're talking about?

Honestly, we held off on brand new cars because of these nanny controls. Can't stand them. They gave us a great car to drive but the software gets to me.

Hit the voice button the wheel and say "search settings for forward" . That's the quickest way I found to get to the screen to disable forward collision warning/annoyance. No more car braking on its own.

The start stop garbage you'll either have to manually disable, shove something in there to keep the button depressed, or get one of the logic boards that remembers last setting.

No way to get standard cruise control on the '22 +.

Can't help you about the memory seats as mine doesn't have that. Check the owners manual for how to set it. Set both memories to the same position.

Thanks, yeah can't set both memories as I bought the car for the wife and I'm driver 2 haha. We've been over the manual and tried to troubleshoot over the phone with Kia but they think it's a software issue. But can't say for sure until they see it.

Thanks for the voice tip that will help.

yeah, software if you can use memory seat settings while in drive. my19 premium with all the nannies only keeps forward collision avoidance engaged on start up, and I have everything else turned off successfully. but your my23 and probably things have changed. Ima surprised that full off of traction and stability control won't disengage forward collision. on my car the little crashing icon comes on the dash when forward collision is off. and it always is off when traction and stability are off.

Re' The seat memory

In the way you have described this, the setting is wrong for your selected driver (You) so instead of fixing this issue you are jumping to the setting number on the door to fix your issue because it happens to have a setting there that you like. This fixes it temporarily.

1. Go back and select the driver and allow the seat to move to the incorrect position as you describe. You may have to be off the seat or out of the car or reach through the window if you don't like being crushed by it.
2. Adjust the seat by the seat controls beside the driver (not the memory setting button that you have been doing)
3. Push SET on the door then select Button 1 or Button 2. This resets the seat to the new setting you have adjusted it to.

It should now function for that driver profile.

As far as disconnecting all the safety stuff. I don't get. You are not driving a 1960s car with a bench seat and no airbag.

These features are to get everyone driving safely. Disconnecting forward sensing. ABS and a host of other features is simply dumb and if found to be disconnected I doubt an Insurance company would pay out. My 2 cents........

^^No one is disconnecting abs. Forward collision warning is intrusive because the car may (and does) brake on it's own when it's least expected. Had it happen too many times now.

These nannies are suitable for those drivers who lack the ability to actually drive and must focus attention on their cell phone, eating, putting make up on, etc. The rest of us drive without distractions and are annoyed by these mandated gimmicks.

I would rather people went and read the actual road legislation than focusing on how good a driver they perceive themselves to be.............

I call BS on those two paragraphs. Forward Safety is extremely intrusive and so called Smart Cruise Control is similar. It doesn't make me a safer driver, just an angry driver.

Massive government overreach. Suspect NHTSA, another mostly worthless government agency, will lobby Congress to mandate more intrusive features and ensure none can be disabled.

Do you realize that the way things are going, the government could control when, how and how far you drive? "Sorry Bob, you've driven too many miles, stay at home". The VILE World Economic Forum, so loved by the slimeball George Soros, is already proposing this and similarly insane regulations.

There is one safety feature I use and do like. If you're using high beams, the car senses that and switches to low beam when another other car is approaching and switches back to high beam when the car passes. It also turns the headlight to illuminate a curving piece of road. Don

The USA does not have gun control. 535 mass shootings this year alone.

A couple of years ago there was a Listeria outbreak in lettuces and six people died. Lettuces were banned for a short time ha ha ha. How many shooting deaths per annum? 49,000.......
Please elaborate?

Is this like gun control saving lives? IL has some of the toughest gun control laws. Yet, just this weekend, there were at least 34 shot with a number of fatalities (Chicago shootings: At least 34 shot, 7 killed in weekend gun violence across city, police say).

I was going to do a reply but then I saw you were an angry driver........there is no solution for an angry driver except to stop them driving......

I don't know where you live but you are ignorant of gun issues in the US.

First of all, of the supposed 40,000 or whatever deaths attributed to gun, 2/3rds are SUICIDES. We have a gang problem and if you take out parts of Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta etc, our gun rates are very similar to Europe which for the most part has far more restrictive firearms laws. Japan has draconian anti gun laws yet their suicide rate is similar to ours. If people want out of this life, they'll find a way. Guns are just very effective.

Mass shootings? The left keeps lowering the threshhold at which the media calls a mass shooting. Note that most of the mass shootings have been done by mentally ill people yet the left doesn't care, they want to ban guns from the most trustworthy and beneficial of citizens.

Concealed carry license holders commit fewer crimes than do law enforcement officers. Think about that one for a while. Don

You can’t force logic onto someone who wants to be controlled. People like this guy sadly take comfort in being told what to do and even more comfort in being the enforcer.
