Just want to say hello to my future Stinger Kin. Will be driving to Omaha to pickup my New Stinger GT2 AWD in a few hours. Super excited. Will be trading in a 2015 Ford Edge Sport. I had been waiting on a 4 door sedan of some type that wasn't just going to be at every street corner and finally came along the Stinger GT. previous performance cars were 01 Trans am, 2009 370z, 2009 G8 GT. 2015 Mustang GT. I guess you could call the Edge Sport performance oriented as it was peppy for what it was rofl.

I plan to keep it stock for a while since the aftermarket for these cars are still very much in their infant stages. The best part about all of this is tomorrow I have a 12-13 hour drive from Nebraska to Arkansas. I already love to drive so this will make for a very entertaining first road trip in it. SHould be enough time to tinker with all the feature. I Look forward to picking people's brains once I am in it. I will try and get some photos probably late tomorrow evening as it will be night before I get back home tonight with the car.

Just curious I know "back in the day" it was sometimes frowned upon to go on a Long steady drives with a brand new engine ect. is that still a thing these days or was it more along the lines of the MUST CHANGE OIL every 3k that has been obsolete forever.

Congratulations on the new ride - I'm sure you are going to love it! I'm picking mine up tomorrow, and not getting much real work done today ... :)

Vary your RPM as much as you can on the drive. Some fundamentals never change, so unless the manufacturer beds things in for you (an expensive and time consuming process e.g. Acura NSX) you should do your best to allow parts to properly wear in against each other. The Stinger manual states the following (bolding is mine):

No special break-in period is needed. By following a few simple precautions for the first 1,000 km (600
miles) you may add to the performance, economy and life of your vehicle.
• Do not race the engine.
• While driving, keep your engine
speed (rpm, or revolutions per
minute) between 2,000 rpm and
4,000 rpm.
• Do not maintain a single speed for
long periods of time, either fast or
slow. Varying engine speed is
needed to properly break-in the
engine.

• Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies, to allow the brakes to seat
properly.
• Don't tow a trailer during the first
2,000 km (1,200 miles) of operation

Cheers,
Steve

Congrats and have a safe trip! Take pics!

Congratulations! Have a safe trip back home. Post of few pictures of your Stinger when you can. You've had some pretty cool cars in the past. You're really going to love this one... :)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Two quick comments. I broke mine in over the first 500 miles by using the paddle shifters when I had to travel on highways - 7th, 6th, 7th, 8th -- to give the engine varying RPM. Second, I like to change oil after 1,000 - 2,000 miles just to remove any wear-in particles and to make sure subsequent break-in is using MY choice of oil which is Mobil 1.

Where in Arkansas are you from, @Razortek? I bought my GT2 from Superior Kia in Fayetteville, AR and I live in SW Missouri. Wave as you go by on I-49.

Congratulations!

Thank you for supporting Mobil 1 :)

Bought a Hyundai a year ago.....now traded in for the Stinger.....and the dealer said when asked about break in to “just drive it”. Lol. I never use anything but Mobil 1 synthetic. Have for decades.

If you keep it in sport mode you’ll never dip below 2k RPM

Are you buying it or leasing it , if you're leasing it now you can go to your bank or credit union and buy it out and take advantage of the $7000 rebate. Whichever way you win you're gonna love it congratulations .

Welcome to the hive and congrats on your new Stinger! I'm in agreement with @mldavis2 That paddle shifters will be your friend for the drive home. Tedious, yes, but you'll get a major chunk of your break-in achieved on your first drive! It took me nearly a month to get past 600 miles!
