My good friend is a salesman at Kia Country of Charleston in South Carolina and convinced me to come in for a test drive. I've been a car guy since 16 and laughed at the idea of owning a Kia so I only came in as a courtesy. I had just paid off my manual Chevy Cruise (which I loved despite its obviously lack of power) and wasn't really in the market for a new car. I drove the Stinger GT and I. Was. Impressed.

I was not expecting the power and thrill to come out of a heavy Kia with tiny turbos. The torque at low RPM was a definite selling point and I honestly think the interior is the icing on the cake in this car. I originally wanted a white Stinger, but the only one nearby turned out to be a demo car with 5k miles with no discount which I was not about to entertain. I ended up with a 2019 Stinger GT1 in ceramic gray and I absolutely love how this car looks and I've already got great plans for getting the most out of this car.

First thing I did was tint the car and then installed K&N typhoon intakes which are excessively LOUD. One of my main complaints with the car during the test drive (which I was allowed to hoon around) was the body roll in fast corners. I've got the Eibach pro kit on the way to take the springs lower and upgrade the roll bars which I think will make this suspension as close to perfect as a heavy 4 door saloon can get. I've also got aesthetic changes on their way to swap all the chrome accents with carbon fiber. This car is my new daily driver and I also have plans to take it to the track in the future. I also want to take my wheels black but I honestly think the stock rims would look good powder coated in flat black. Anyone have any thoughts?

I gloss powder coated my OEM 19” and had matte black 18” winter rims.

The matte just doesn’t match the car (with the gloss black accents).

Get yours gloss powder coated.

That looks awesome. I think as long as I'm going with carbon fiber accents as opposed to matte black accents gloss seems to be the way to go on the powder coat.

Jdawg300: welcome aboard. I too didn't even think it was possible a KIA was ever going to be in MY garage... surprise surprise! I'm still happy I did it... and it is!
NHCowboy28: nice work! I believe Ill be doing the same... but incorporating high chroma red accents into the rim to tie it all together. Not cheap to do - but a one off once completed!

Hi, and welcome, car guy. :D I am not a car guy. This is my first brand new car, and first performance car. I've been having so much fun.

Blacking the OE rims looks very dramatic. Arguably they are easier to touch up too. We'll see how that goes.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Any chance you got rim and tire protection from the dealer? I'm guessing the powder coating voids any of that protection. I'm not looking to get the powder coat protected, but rather wondering if the rim or tire is damaged whether or not they will void protection due to powder coating...

Awesome choice congrats and welcome to the kia fam, what I don't understand is that you never thought you will ever be buying a kia but you had a Chevy?... So is not like you went from a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta to a Kia, I even consider a downgrade going from a BMW 3series to a stinger, now you realize why Kia is the 5 th Most powerfur car company on planet earth.
