Booked my appointment as soon as I received the recall notice on 5/2 and the earliest possible date my dealer could take me was today 5/29 (3-4 weeks). Took the day off work because I knew it could be 3-4 hours...

740AM: Dropped my car off at the dealership. My borderline-elderly Dad was nice enough to take the 30-minute drive from his home to pick me up.

2+ hours later at 10AM: Asked my service advisor for an estimate for when they thought the work would be completed. I was told they didn't have a timeframe yet but would get back to me.

30 minutes later 1030AM: "It doesn't look like it will be available until EOD, around 4pm-5pm"

4.5 hours later at 3pm (7+ hours after initial drop-off): Call my service advisor to confirm the 4pm-5pm completion time. I don't want my Dad to drive me the now 40-minutes back to the dealership if the car wouldn't be ready. Service advisor told me "Sorry, we couldn't complete the recall. We don't have the parts needed".

TLDR: 7 hours to be told that "we don't have the parts" and made the 1.5 hour drive back to Chicago.

Dang that sucks. I’m only at 18k and not planning to do the recall at 150k lol.

I'm just under 25K, but doing it because it seems like the "right" thing to do. I love my stinger, but will never buy Kia again due to the dealer/service experience.

BTW I have the lap 3 1.5ECU as well (love it), but removed it for the warranty work and will now be another week, 2, 3, damn.... but ready to reinstall the moment I get home from a successful recall repair.

^^I'm familiar with them but avoid them. My extent of dealing with them was buying a gal of coolant. I avoid them for everything else even though Im not far from them.

There's a new kia dealership in Highland Park. No experience with them but perhaps they're better. My car came from Mchenry (some 60 miles NW of the area). Dealing with service there (mchenry kia) was ok. They did a warranty repair in a timely manner. Had to twist arms to get an alignment out of it as the repair involved manipulating steering/suspension components.

I have a scheduled appt July 1st for my G70, think I'm going to cancel and do it later this year. The Genesis Las Vegas dealer is opening a new stand alone Genesis dealer (supposed to be done in the next 2 weeks) but I imagine there will be chaos getting the new dealership up & running, and also probably best to have the service guys do a few of these first :) We get out to Vegas 3-4x a year so no biggie putting this on hold.

Seems to be really hit & miss from dealer to dealer, some get it done in 3 hrs or less, and some more than a day. Some also seem quite clueless regarding having parts on hand, our tube looks fine, no leaks or issues from the best I can see & feel.

UPDATE: My car is back at the dealership, dropped off at 745am central. Should be available by 4pm....

They tell me I'm their first stinger doing this recall repair, which doesn't inspire much confidence.
Love my car, hope this isn't something I regret reading some horror stories in the other recall threads.

Same dealer?

Same dealer?
yes, it's the only dealer remotely close to me. I'm also impatient because I got a Lap3 ECU like a month ago and want to reinstall it ASAP. I will never step foot in that dealership again once I get my car back though.

Good luck! I wish dealers weren't so hit and miss.

They couldn’t finish it today so I have a forte loaner. Almost as fast as the stinger……

And now I'm told they probably won't have it ready until next week.
My rain sensor/active lane assistance has been acting up so I wanted them to take a look at that as well, but doesn't excuse 3+ days in the shop and counting.

Lol. Your messaging is, "I don't need or want my car that badly, and I have these other issues for you to take a look at." What did you expect? By the way, there is no connection between the rain sensing wipers and lane assist. And both are capricious, especially the wipers, in my experience. The techs won't find anything to fix. "It's working as expected," expect that kind of response.

I did not try to imply this whatsoever. I said I was OK taking the car back to look at the other stuff later, but “a day or so” seemed reasonable until it’s now 4 service days with no update.

I know you didn't mean that, but that is how a shop will take your attitude from how laid back - polite - your are being. Also, I would never leave my car overnight unless it wasn't running or safe to run, or was of course in the middle of a job.

I got my recall done and they broke tht coolant pipe but the part is backordered indefinitely so now I’ve been without my stinger for over three weeks and counting
OMG, that's awful. I'm so sorry. I finally got my car back after 8 days and everything seems to be working fortunately. Except for the lane keep assist and automatic wipers/rain detection. Dealer said they're fine/not throwing any error codes (my personal OBDLink says the same) and I wasn't gonna let them keep my car longer to MAYBE get those fixed.
