Power Mods

The 600 to 650 HP mark is where things go bad for the transmission. There are several big turbo stingers out right now but they are rollers, not 1/4 for the most part. The ones that do 1/4 mile fair well, and their trap speeds are what's most impressive.
As far as E. without a single upgrade, the Stinger can handle up to E30 safely. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the weather. If the Ethanol content is too high, the HPFP crashes and the car falls on it's face. There are upgraded HPFP's out there like Spool, but the Stock ECU is not programmed for anything more, so that bolt on is useless unless you're tuned for it. If you go with the Burger JB4 route (BMS), look at the CPI (Charge Pipe Injection) option. It basically adds a 7th injector into your charge pipe and is controlled by boost, load, duty cycle, all done from the app (user controlled). There are guys running up to E70 without a single hiccup, because it pulls from the LPFP side, not the high. It's like a Meth nozzle but better. Then with the JB, you can still pick your flavor of ECU and seamlessly stack those two. The ECU will take care of all the built in Nannies from Kia like torque limits, ect. and the JB can be used to log, control CPI, active gauges on the app, and EWG control. In addition, if you wanted to really push the car, you can easily add a bit of race gas and add a few pounds of boost per RPM in the JB app and go full send.

This is the way, just be sure to get at least one of the ECU tunes in there haha.

also, @Vilithrax can you define big money car? is it going to be new or used? cuz if new, then avoid the GT1 as it loses a lot of features the previous years had, if used, you may as well still aim for the GT2, but the GT1 still has most of the options. 19-21 are the best years, as 18 does not have the wireless charging, 360 camera, or rear heated seats from the factory in USA models. 19 and up do on the GT2.

@AWDGT2 Thanks for that info!

Say I wanted to stick to jb4 pure turbo on e30. What hp can I expect and does the trans need to be built at that point? And for curiosity sake, how painful / expensive is the custom ecu clone process?
ECU's can range from 1500 to 4K depending on what you want. Lozic has the most customizable ECU on the market so far, and his is a flat rate of 1500 and shipping for whatever options you want, so its probably the best deal overall. The trans and engine are both around 600 to 650hp before you need to start building them, so realistically you will probably be fine for any of the current mods on the market.

OP make sure he picks a blue one has it adds a few more hp imho.

It’ll be used. 20/21. Aiming for gt2 but will settle on gt1 if it’s 19-21 (as you recommended)

Uhh so far I’ve got 30,000 into my Supra and I’d say I’m about halfway done So again, mod money isn’t an issue but I just need to be able to plan for it

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I'd tell him to cross shop a G70 as well as somehow I was able to find a fully loaded RWD for 50.5k (1500-1700 under sticker). The GT2 I was going to order was 54k

With that being the case, I would advise reaching out to "lozic_ecu" on instagram as he is most responsive there, but he is @sweetboyed on here, and tell him exactly what you want to achieve, and I am sure that you and him can work out a specific parts list of what to add, as each performance part available for the stinger usually has 2-3 counterparts from various companies. you also should document everything you do to the car, as I know the people here, and most of the car people on the internet would eat the content for breakfast.

where are you from if you dont mind me asking? im sure whatever sect of stinger owners nearest to you guys would love to have a new fast friend haha

I would say after my Stinger journey, Supra would be on my list. (Probably not if I have a kid before then though) Maybe an RS5 if my wife doesnt know where the funds went.

Looks like you're never getting an RS5 then. Wives know all.

So 450 is an easy day for JB4 with the right supporting mods. I'm not sure I would go Pure turbos without an ECU. It definitely needs to know you've got bigger lungs. If it's records you shooting for, or 10's, then an ECU is mandatory.
One other thing we've forgotten to mention is our head studs. Kia never planned on us adding 150hp to this block. That's the reason guys have blown head gaskets, too much boost. What happens is the studs stretch just enough under high boost (26-28ish) that either water or oil will seep over to an adjacent jacket. Run that a few times and next thing you know your car will randomly over heat, or your inside heat won't work, and other random heating issues. That's the real limitation of this platform right now. Unfortunately ARP has nothing as of yet and rumors are Tork has some custom made but he's keeping those close hold.
So to sum up...
There is a boost max before you hurt something
There is a HP limit on the transmission
There is an E max unless you go CPI
2 of the 4 cars in the 10's got hurt by means of head gaskets
Every single car on the top 20 list except one (1) ran meth
... One ran CPI and Meth combo
At least the top 10 had ECU's, if not more.....

At least headgaskets are cheapish, that way if you screw up its not that bad of a fix!

Id gladly build the engine head if needed. Or go big turbo on low boost to avoid over boosting stock turbo.

All of this info is very helpful guys, I appreciate it!

Anyone have a solution of the quiet exhaust? I’m thinking straight pipe but idk if catless will knock the car into limp mode..

Plenty of exhaust options out there, but you WILL need aftermarket tips as well or the drone will be awful. also, a dedicated ecu tune or the JB4 will stop the car from over-boosting for the most part with no cats, but it will probably happen every once in a while regardless. your best bet is to get sport cat primary downpipes then straight pipe it from there if you really want noise.

A lot of great information has been said in this thread already. In order to get near the results, you desire you will need some typical bolt-ons. I would be glad to help your friend out with a package discount so that you guys can get up and running that much quicker. Just shoot me a message whenever you are ready.

Can you link an exhaust option that is how you described? And I have a jb4 tuner in the BMW community that’s local to me, I do plan to jb4 + meth this car

Here is a link to several options,

However, if you really want to dump money into this car, then as long as you get the proper equipment, you can do a completely custom setup.

This is probably your best bet to get noticeable gains while still being CAT legal

those will handle your primary cats and eliminate the unnecessary secondary cats, while till leaving you plenty of room for a pre-made Catback or custom work!

Interesting, def not the case with my engine then, as I had no "floaties" and the Gaskets where fine. Thanks for the link! what's strange is I remember reading most of that info but not the part where it blew up. oh well.
Yeah, when I spoke with Joel privately he indicated that his engine went due to his abuse and not having proper head studs. Not because of the Lozic tune. I have the tune and have experienced zero issues.

2 questions:

1) What have you seen for 1/4 mile traps on the big turbo Stingers?

2) Are you running CPI or meth?
