I currently drive a 2015 Kia Optima EX, and my lease runs out in November. I’ve gone back and forth between keeping the current Optima, or leasing an Optima, Stinger, or Sorento.

I’m looking to purchase a home also either this year, or wait til next year, so I feel like that affects what I want to get. I live in NYC.

Wanted to join the forum bc I’m leaning more towards the Stinger.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Well! You came to the right place to help with your decision on buying a Stinger. Or maybe the wrong place if you don't really want one. :p Because everyone is going to have great things to say about this car. I'm glad you found us!

eb you know what that flag stands for right???

SORRY TO CHIME IN ON SOME OTHER STUFF.

Oh really?! So can you give me more detail. What made you get it, and is it that big a difference from the Optima? Thanks

I was coming up on my lease and was really looking at a Challenger 392. I did know about the Stinger prior and liked it as well. I test drove the Dodge and although it had tons of power and great sound I didn’t like the interior or the price tag. Fortunately the Stinger had just arrived at the Kia dealership I had done business with prior. Saw it drove it and fell in love with it. I have the 2.0 and although it’s just the 4 banger it is a world of difference between my Optima with HP and the drive characteristics. I wound up being the first Stinger owner in the region here. Good luck with whatever you wind up doing. P.S. this car becomes an addiction. Lol

love them

I'll offer my usual advice to aspiring Stinger buyers. Do not -- NO NOT -- test drive one unless you intend to buy one. Optimas are nice cars, but you won't be able to sleep. Just don't drive one ....

I test drove a stinger base, optima sx, and stinger gt2. The stinger base and Optima sx are similar but I thought the optima sx was nicer. There is more technology and features in the sx over the Stinger base. I drove a gt2 and loved it! No comparison when it comes to power! GT is nice but will cost you significantly more than optima. If budget allows look at a gt, if not drive the optima and base and compare.

I test drove the SXL 2018 Optima. And it wasn’t bad at all. But I think I want something better. I would really want a BMW, but know to get the features in a stinger or optima it would costs me way more.

welcome to the hive. like everyone has posted, just do it. it really is a great car. not knocking any of the other kia models, but, the stinger is in a class by itself.

First Stinger I drove was the 2.0 Premium. I wasn’t real impressed. Second I drove was a GT1 and I was blown away. Ended up buying a GT2. Like the others said, don’t test drive it until you’re ready to buy or you’ll be hooked

I have the 2017 Optima hybrid and after test driving they Stinger, I was hooked! Can't get one yet (probably end of this year or next) but it led to me modding my hybrid an driving that thing harder. Lowering springs @ .8" drop and some wider tires that also drops it another .5". It doesn't have has much power but is still fun to toss around in Sport mode. The Stinger GT is a unique car and it will feel like you are driving a BMW, just not an "M" car. If you want one, go take one for a ride when it's closer to your lease being up. You can drive one now but just remember, it will be on your mind all the time until you get one!

that’s what I’m afraid of. I have 5 months to go. I think I’ve watched every Stinger video on YouTube. So you’re definitely getting one? Well, the 2019 will be out probably by the time you buy.
