Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

With social distancing in place the best I could manage was a short trip to get fuel & air at my local BP on this beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon ready for the week ahead.

I do feel for you guys in the east who can't simply go for a drive. Hope you had a good Easter anyway.
Well we have to do our bit to get on top of this thing, so it is what it is & hopefully all we be back to some sort of normal sooner than later & a Happy Easter to you too.

For my walk today, I drove down to Gardner Village and parked, then walked for an hour on the Jordan River Trail. The pics show how the current madness has closed "non essential businesses", i.e. the ENTIRE outfit; of course, including the sit down restaurant in the mill house itself. But what makes a clothing or hobby shop "non essential"? It's like closing the gyms; we don't NEED to exercise or workout; we can die slowly from deteriorating health; not everyone prefers exercising outside, for various reasons.

At least there is plenty of parking. No worries about someone hitting your car.

True. But a thought of someone breaking into my car would not leave my head the entire walk. And it's a real danger, because at the next parking lot to the north (c. one mile away) there is usually window glass scattered about from break ins. With no presence at Gardner Village, I think that it's only a matter of time (and luck) before thieves start checking out the empty parking lot for the odd vehicle there. I think I'll wait to walk the Jordan River trail again until this isolation, closed businesses nonsense is over.

Shortly after regular opening at ten o'clock, I was at the Costco on 104th South and Bungler Hwy, walking in an already forming queue toward the sanitized shopping carts. When I passed the sign of things Costco is out of, TP was NOT on the list; but there was a blank line ready for that to be written in. When I got inside, all I saw on the right hand side of the main aisle was Kirkland's TP. Impressive! I walked clear to the back to look and see if there was any Charmin. More Kirkland's TP, but nary a roll of Charmin: they are definitely behind the curve. Kirkland's rules. I plopped one 30 roll pack in my shopping cart and headed toward the other main aisle where the checkout queue forms.

"Welcome, members. Thank you for shopping at Costco wholesale warehouse. Please observe the CDC guidelines for social distancing, by maintaining six feet of separation. Thank you." (not every minute, more like every 3 to five minutes; but it feels like it repeats every minute).

The shopping guy in front of me was stacked a couple of feet over his shopping cart. Impressive! And the two gals grabbing items for scanning and boxing up did not need an exercise routine. Heh! Doing that all day would see them exhausted, I have no doubt. Trouble sleeping? Not a chance. :D Anyway, my single TP package, and the couple behind me with only handheld items made the universe in balance after that ridiculously heavy shopping binge in front of us.

Outside, I snapped a pic of the "historic moment" when I was able to just walk in and buy TP again. Hah.

It's a sad day when we are " relieved " because we can get our hands on a pack of TP, however at my local supermarket it is now overflowing wth packets of Tissues and plenty of TP, even ventured into the Chemist and they have, yes drum roll please ..... " hand sanitiser " Yay !!!:D:thumbup:

To this depth we have fallen. Pictorials of mundane, but now rare, trips to this store or that one.

Been mostly wrestling with the 'puter. I got tired of it acting doggy and since I knew the C:drive showed c. 95% plus full, I decided today was the time to inquire. I went over to PC Laptops and got right in. They have a sign on the door, telling you to not go further than the table and to put your computer on it. It turned out that Dropbox was also backing up to "C"; why it has been doing that for the last year I have no idea. But now Dropbox is backing up only to D:drive, leaving "C" pretty much for only Windows. I was waiting there for c. an hour for the content (148 GB) to delete from "C". When I got home, I had to reorient myself, because all of the "C" links to my media were now kaput. That took a while.

Ive been hearing some of the heavy duty morons have been refused refunds when returning there hoard of Tp. This is the same Tp they tried to hock on Ebay and gumtree but were refused. If seen asking i was hoping they might get lynched by the mobs outside the supermarkets.

A momentous occasion Merlin. Glad you photographed it.

Looks like the panic buying is coming to an end. The zombie apocalypse must be over. Pasta and rice isles are still pretty sparse though.

I heard Vietnam has ceased all exports of rice for the time being. We get 70% of our rice from them.

Rice (and hand sanitizer) the new currency (actually, rice has been currency many times in history). The Italian Mafia did a funny spot on video: showed a box, of hand sanitizer, and quipped that cocaine is so yesterday; THIS is the new money-maker. :D

Years of TP storage compromises the strength. My mother opined (this is some years ago) that she and my father made a mistake getting in so much TP. The older it gets the more easily it tears. So, this binge buying will be worthless long before it gets used, if it ever gets used. Hah.

Serves them (TP hoarders) right.

Went for a short hike today (less than two hours). The first place we tried for was slammed, both parking lots were completely full. So, I drove over to Bear Canyon, Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Both parking lots also looked slammed, but I went in anyway, intending to drive through and come back out and park on the side of the road. But that wasn't necessary: way over to the far end was a stall just waiting for my Stinger. :D:thumbup:

The number of hikers was unprecedented (in our limited experience with this hiking spot). I blame Rona lockdown. And most hikers must have gotten some "memo": about seeing "at risk" hikers (aka oldsters), the protocol to protect us must be to step off the trail as far as prudent and let us pass at a safe distance from aerosol. Only a handful of hikers that we met coming the other way did not do this: they must have not gotten the memo. :P My wife and I were by far the oldest people we saw. The next oldest person was with his teenaged son, the dad being c. fifty. Tons of school kids of all ages. Mountain bicycles, quite a few. It was very warm, upper 70s. Perfect weather. (no masks in evidence, go figure)

I did. :D So did the motorcycle in front of us. And so did every vehicle in that lower parking lot. An officious oaf could come along and cite every vehicle, I suppose. I'm sure we were all breaking some parking lot ordinance or other. But, got away with it. This is the second time I've parked down there in that exact spot. It must be "mine".
@MerlintheMad you parked in a spot reserved for a trailer?
