• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

Now,now, what brought on the untimely tirade, 'tis the season to be jolly. Save a feathery critter I say , unless its a Pigeon or Indian miner.
(Retort concluded) :D.
I thought Merlin liked birds. He was just stating in another post about how nice the ducks in the lake were and now he wants to bash the hell out of these birds. Go figure.

That's because the ducks are out on the lake, if they shat on his beloved Stinger, Merlin would be in a real fowl mood and go get his duck shooters licence asap.

I think we need to do a welfare check on @MerlintheMad , it certainly doesn't sound like the Wizard I've known. Can we have a positive bird comment to appease us? Maybe I maintain a bird bath?, I put out bread in Winter? I refuse to eat poultry? Save the Californian condor etc?

Not so. I want to sweep their befowling:p nests away from where they don't belong. The birdies can build somewhere else. Nobody is suggesting, especially me, that we murder helpless birdies. Eggses? Well, hopefully when we see mommy bird and daddy bird BUILDING the danged thing, they'll get an avian idea to go elsewhere, since clearly, this "stupid hairless biped" is not going to leave us to our domestic duties. Heh.

I believe in letting birds have their natural habitat. It would be illegal to discharge a firearm within the county: therefore, de facto, all ponds, lakes and waterways are protected bird sanctuaries. If I don't want my Stinger walked on by ducks, I had better park further away.

Btw, last spring, in the east end of our carport soffit, a large nest of starlings was established. The east end is where my wife parks her Fusion. But you bet that I had a hairy eye out for any further nest building on the west end, where my Stinger is parked. Nothing happened, and even my wife's car was not shat on: the nest was further east than her car. There, now you know that I am a pacific person! Hah.

Don't worry Merlin, it was in jest, I don't take you as a gun toting fella, I know you like animals :)

No question, I took everything in the same spirit. And I am a gun-toting person as well (just not a "sportsman"). :D I love animals. Even bugs (but I won't share living space with spiders).

Drove over to the local city park and walked six laps (took just over an hour). This has become my usual walking place when the canal path is snowed in or too muddy. Temperature was hovering just under freezing; and that was the warmest part of the day.

I think I'll take that at the moment:D. I just heard Saturdays Temp is revised to 46c.
Holy crap!? How long is that supposed to go on?!:sleep:

Yes as Flame said, she was as us Aussies say "Taking the piss" or Pulling your chain". Very good Flame. All in good humour.

Well there's three 40+ days forecasted this week . The hottest month is January. I can only imagine what's around the corner.

It's going to be 39 tomorrow in Melbourne but here we have a coastal breeze that keeps us cooler so we will be 33. But Friday we will be 37 and Melbourne will be a scorcher over 40 I think it's predicting.

Thanx for Melbourne's weather forecast @Flameangel , I wish that coastal breeze would make its way up my way, the only breeze we get here is from the aircraft flying overhead....:(:laugh::rofl:, 39 tomorrow like you said here, and about 42 Friday.

Agreed to drive my wife (again) to her reflexology appointment this week. And as is becoming usual, I walked in Murray park. Halfway into my walk, I paused to take a low side shot of my Stinger (from a shallow basin off to the side of the parking lot). What I didn't see from that angle was the job the damned birds did to my car (I presume all the starlings in Murray! Heh!). When I got done and stood behind the hatch to open it, all was revealed. Believe it or not, I did not cuss: but resolved forthwith to not park under trees (this reminded me of an earlier resolve; but the previous two or three times I've parked in the same exact spot has not garnered even a single blob of bird poop).

When we got home I immediately cleaned the crap off and washed my car again (yesterday's car wash tunnel job - to get the undercarriage sprayed out - made the job easier and faster).

I love Murray park. The atmosphere is very peaceful (at least this time of the year), and it reminds me of my childhood: some of the same buildings are still there; for instance, the old swimming pool shower and locker house (now a tool shed, I presume): and from the hill I can look down on the former swimming pool (now covered over and who knows what lies beneath?), and recollect learning how to swim there, and how terrified I was of the deep end, and could hardly get myself to let go of the spit gutter and SWIM (finally managed it).

The pond in the arboretum is now frozen over and the ducks have no doubt joined the main flock in the creek.

The pavilions are all down. It will be interesting to see what the city replaces them with.

There goes Merlin and his birds again. Next time take your gun. :p What a mess. I wouldn't be happy either. Great shots of the mountains in the background. I notice every time you post of this same location, it always appears deserted like you're the only one ever around. Is this the case.

Few people. It is a big park. I might pass less than a dozen souls in an hour. Interestingly, there is a grade school at the extreme east edge of the park, and when the kids are on lunch or afternoon recess, that end of the park is anything but deserted. :D

I looked up into the branches of the overhanging tree (A BIG ONE) and saw one bird still sitting directly over my hatch: probably the last one of the brief but large "starling convention" to depart. It was ignoring me. The thought did cross my mind that I could take out my derringer and empty the 410 shell in its general direction. But various prudent thoughts instantly followed and prevented me. :p

That is one very lucky bird after what he and his mates did to your car.

They are lucky that I am a pacifist gunslinger. Younger days might have been more dicey. Might. Usually not. Now, I don't think I could ever empty on helpless avians for simply answering nature in their own tree. :D
