I know there have been a lot of discussions about whether the 9 speaker GT system has subs or not. I raised the seats up and took photos which show the part numbers on the speakers. Those part numbers correspond to subs. Maybe I got lucky but I definitely have a base GT and do have subs. I played Regulate which is a great track for bass and they did move air. If you zoom into the photos you can see the part numbers easily.

I also have the base GT limited and it also has the subs there too.

So the yellow GT Stingers have the subs. I knew I picked the wrong color!!!

Yeah, pretty sure my blue base GT has them, too. I can see them there.

My understanding is the only Stingers w/o subs is the base 2.0t.

I believe that to be the case as well. I see mine down there, though when I first got the car I thought they were the seat fans.

Speaking of Mopars, i cant help but think of a 67 Charger when i look at my stinger.
On the sub woofer front, many, as well as me, wonder if they even work. I have my bass maxed out and sounds good but no signs of life from the subwoofer.

I know what you mean.. I figured it would vibrate the hell out of the front seats.

I think the subs port the air into the frame of the car somehow, making them even more omni-directional than your typical sub. That would explain a lot of the confusion. Can't seem to find that video again. Def have the subs in my '19 base GT.

Anyone know the difference between these KIA subs and the HK ones? Why am I thinking KIA just cribbed the heck out of HK's design for their future generation Stingers?

KIA is using equipment from the HK family, now owned by Samsung, of which JBL, Infinity, Revel, Mark Levinson, Harman Kardon and a few other automotive stereo brand, are a part of. The stereo system in the Stinger uses a Lexicon amp module, the cover on the speakers in the US says Harman Kardon, in Korea it is branded Lexicon, I figured they would use the same system instead of a different one and that has been found to be true.

Auto manufacturers turn to the folks that make audio systems to use in their vehicle. These days Bowers and Wilkens and Bang and Olufsen have started to offer high end systems in automobiles. Mark Levenson, Lexicon and Revel are known for their high end home systems, did collaborations for the automotive industry, ended up under the Harman umbrella and now have Samsung as their parent company. The Stinger is using a similar setup as BMW did for their cars by placing the subwoofer under the seat, makes sense since it's a hatchback.

Wow, what a great response. Thank you! Did you hear about the sub porting into the frame?

Yes, I did. Similar to what BMW did back when Harman Kardon was the top level system on their cars, the Stinger's design made sense to do it that way. Volvo did a similar thing with the XC40 but they designed a subwoofer in the dash to produce the bass (HK system).

So I started "testing" the speakers and didn't feel anything from the two that were under the seats even though I can hear the bass when I play my music. How do I know if they're working properly.

If you get the seat base lifted so you can see the subs, you should absolutely see the cones moving when they fire. You should also feel them moving air.
