Petition to KIA about Reversing speed limiting !!

You can dream. It's free. But aftermarket anything gives me pause, since the terrific warranty by Kia is one of the main selling features of this car, imho.

I also not intending on being a "Nancy", can't get around to validating your argument that somehow you've been trick or you had to take it up the popper. When I purchased my vehicles in the past doing research on the car is much more reliable then a car salemen who just got the job 1 week ago. It's unrealistic. And of the many cars that I have own, top speed has never been discussed.

How many, had they known this up front, amongst all of the other features of this great piece of engineering, would not have bought the car? My guess is zero. Style? Handling? Acceleration? A large 5-door hatch? Comfort? Definitely. If top speed is this important then stay off the normal roads that the rest of us drive or you’ll wind up in a tree like that other thread showing up this morning......or worse, take someone else out with you. Don’t really care about disagreements concerning this but will apologize up front to anyone who bought the vehicle with the main intent of racing. That’s what tracks are for.

I have been amused/bemused by the whole topic. "You" went for the Stinger for all the reasons that @DigitalGuru18 mentioned, and only later complained that your top speed is less than the 19s; even though Kia wrote in several places that the AST 18s had a lowered top speed. It's almost as if people are on some kind of prestige fetish anyway, even though this is "just a Kia". o_O

Yes, I happen to have bought the 19s Summers, which by no means did they do me any favors living here in NJ and having to spend a additional 500 to 600 dollars on winter tires. This is an amazing car and super fun to drive I bet with any tires on it. I have had my share of red light to speed limits little races and I have never even come close to 80 mph. Ive seen drag races where the Stinger have been kicking some major asses. The latest one by Tork was what? 116 mph? Point is, where in hell are you pointing that stinger and achieving the 168 mph limit? For 99.9 percent of us , almost certain that we will never unless your "not regular". And if that's the case and you plan to hit top speed 168 on the highway, well dammit, I'm glad you mistakenly bought one with a limit cause your ass is crazy. :p:laugh:

What do you think would be the outcome if you by chance was caught by the law going over 100mph? Insurance, ticket cost, points, etc....

I believe they haul your ass to jail.

OK, now we have bail, attorney. Now if you only do that at the track you only have to worry about warranty and cost to fix the breaks, not brakes.
Better to save all of that money for retirement and be able to buy another Stinger.

Reality: a fast accelerating, stable, smooth car like the Stinger gets you to well above 100 mph in no time at all. It doesn't even feel like 100+. So be smart and only use it when passing safely, then get back down where your speed belongs. Just my advice.

Yesterday, while talking to a friend on the sidewalk (next to my Stinger), our conversation was interrupted by a racket that went by at easily 130 mph; a motorcycle and some really powerful muscle car duking it out side by side. Man, they disappeared fast! Morons. Those are the drivers who should be pulled off the road. Not responsible drivers who use their "super powers" to pass competently. That of course is not to say that a cop won't catch you sometime making such a pass, and throw the book at you. But your chances are very much less than if you are out looking for someone to pick up the gauntlet that you keep throwing down.

I had my first challenger a few days ago: a bright yellow Charger who sidled up to my Stinger and then did several repeats of the "turbo boot", falling back beside me and waiting for a response each time. I smiled under my mustache and kept my eyes over my hood. He went off disappointed and I felt very satisfied with my self-discipline.
