Parting With My Stinger - Am I Making A Mistake Selling It At This Price?

Surprised with a vehicle that old, that you still have negative equity, but that is neither here nor there.

If you are not looking to replace it and just get your money out of it, you could definitely cut and run. Values are only getting lower every week that passes. (More new vehicles are hitting lots every day driving used prices down)

If you are considering replacing it, I wouldn't sell right now. Nothing in the 40k price range worth over paying for at the moment.

As it stands, manufacturer's world wide are looking at 8-9million less new vehicles produced this year due to component shortages. That was before the war in Ukraine that produces 15% of the wire harnesses for the European Union.

Check out Clutch Canada, they're like carvana in the states, they'll just give you a quote based on a couple factors and there is no hassles. My mom got 19k for a 2014 civic si, which was more than she paid for it 3 years earlier. Good luck

I ran carvana numbers for our '15 accord exl. Sold it to carmax last aug for $18,5. Today carvana is offering $18,3. So technically the same number, but actually less so.

IOW in today's numbers,

And the stinger would cost even more :)

This seems appropriate.

Our son nearly got collected in the middle of the Old Bingham Highway, "driving" one of those. :D

The window is rapidly closing, especially in higher population areas where there are dozens of dealers. Look at how many vehicles have moved in the past year, whether new or used, the current trend cannot keep up and demand is not nearly what it was.

It does not sound like selling the Nissan is a good idea considering the circumstances so you may want to keep both for a couple of months and then decide what you want to do, There does not seem to be compelling reasons to do anything right away,

Not sure where your getting your info from, but this issue isn't easing any time soon. Maybe 2024 if we are lucky.

Not sure where you are pulling 2024 from, but it is not from anywhere resembling reality.

There really isn't any need for conjecture, just take a look at the market 12 months ago vs. now. Prices peaked on used vehicles, and there is only one way for them to go. It is not rocket science, the more new vehicles that hit lots will drive the prices down in the used market. Is your market up in Canada different? Absolutely, and maybe the OP has more time up there. But down here, things are already slowly trending downward.

Since China is shutting down again, not sure where all this optimism is coming from. Production is slowing, money printing accelerating, and still people are fantasizing about dates. At this point it's only about how fast your money will loose value. Head-in-the-sand-300x201.gif

i was about to reply that even for a dealer that looking at wholesale prices, $39K seemed low for a Stinger with the mileage of yours. Then I went on Kijiji to see what the asking prices are like across the country and see that Ottawa prices are about $5K less than prices out here in the West. Nice if you're buying but crappy if you're selling.

My 2 bits on your initial dilemma is to do whatever you feel is right for your family. If that means driving a little old Nissan for a few years that allows you to focus on more important things, then so be it. Great cars (probably better in many ways) will still be available for many years to come.
