So I found a dealer with some exceptional pricing on the base GT. I have a quote from them dropping it down to $26K. My first thought is they're just trying to get me into the door but it looks like I have a chance to lock in the price tomorrow after I submit paperwork.

This happened after I told them I felt like they were going to jerk me around so I wanted an OTD price before moving forward. They requested background information and I gave them all the info in that moment. They identified all applicable discounts and asked me to follow up with paperwork to lock in the deal.

I'm really shocked at how well this is turning out. I've been looking but can't find this kind of pricing anywhere. This seems too good to be true. Maybe they're having a hard time pushing the base GT?

Edit: brand new and don't now how to change thread title. Auto corrected from Panthera

Also, anybody think I should just move up to the GT1 instead?

Wow - sounds like a helluva deal if it's for real. But coming from a dealer, I wouldn't hold your breath until the numbers are on paper in front of you.

IMO the added amenities of the GT1 are too worthwhile to pass up; sunroof, sound system, and ventilated seats are a dream. I'd ask about it seeing as how they are willing to go pretty low already on a GT.

My thought is there is no way in hell that's real. That car has an msrp of 41,500 before taxes, destination and options.

What is the breakdown they gave you because that's 37.5% off msrp...

Here's the text I received on Friday...

Good morning, Robert I've gotten with finance and here is your price quote:

Current Market Value: $33,890.00
Sale Price: $29,804
Rebate: $3,400
Dealer Discount: $4,086
WOW Price: $26,404
Destination /Certify:$995
Processing: $799
State Taxes: $1,848.28
Est.Tag Fees: $73.35

*Your Generated Price Is Based on whether you qualify for the rebates + incentives *

Another dealer nearby is providing an extended factory drivetrain warranty up to 200K miles. Since I'm moving to Germany I asked if it was transferrable. A day later they said it was, they just needed to do paperwork to transfer the warranty to Kia Europe.

I've never dealt with Kia in my life. This is all weird to me

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Current market value $33K really?! Brand new? I'm not believing either.

Oh, and when all this happened I became very frustrated with the dealer employee on the phone because this just couldn't be right. She sent me the link to their website where they have several GT base vehicles advertised from $29K to $31K

The "current market value" is already 7k under msrp for a base GT which places it VERY close to the msrp of a 2.0T AWD model so I'm going to say its a bait and switch. Get you in there thinking you're getting a 3.3L GT and they tell you the price is for the base Stinger with AWD.

I can't say I'm holding my breath. But this is from their site...

This line is the killer. They're assuming that you qualify for every rebate and incentive under the sun, and are quite possible stacking some that don't stack (you can have A or B, not both, but they're including both in their price).

Get a real "this is the price you'll actually pay" price from them, and see if it's anything like that price they've given you so far. From what I've seen of dealer behaviour when a price looks too good to be true, the answer is that the two are going to be light-years apart.

Sorry guys...very busy since I have to get my life moved to Germany. They verified that I qualify for all the rebates and pricing on GT AWD for $26K. They did tell me that I had to use KIA finance in order to keep the price where it's at. They want me to come in and seal the deal.

However, I'm still concerned and requested that their sales manager sign the offer paperwork before I do anything. The GT1 I wanted sold in the mean time but the GT AWD is still available. I'm not sure why the other GT1 started at $34K. So instead, they quoted one that came up to $38K. That quote is attached. Right now I'm waiting on their finance manager to call for the $26K GT AWD. If he can draw up the paperwork that will give me the confidence I need.

We'll see. My accord coupe isn't bad in any way and I may just walk away from this...

Koons Kia if anybody is interested. I'm not allowed to post links yet or post pics...so no quote attached.

Make sure you are buying a actual GT. A few weeks ago someone bought a 4 cylinder Stinger after telling the dealer he wanted a base GT. Dealers are stupid. They could very well be giving you the price for a regular ole 4 banger.

That $33,890 price they started their quote with is nearly identical to the price of a base 2.0l with destination charge. The salesman/finance bubba you're working with probably don't know the difference in trims or they're messing with you to get an upsale in person.

I would ask them to email a pic of the sticker. That will tell all and also make switching the car impossible.

Apparently this weird pricing is only for certain VINs...odd

It's true. Weird, but true. Apparently Kia dictates which VINs. I asked if mine was one of the VINs and of course it wasn't!

No. Those are only ad promotional (representational) pics, not the ACTUAL vehicle they are talking about. You need a dealership/location pic of each car they are talking about. In other words, they go outside and take pics of the actual vehicles that you are dealing with and send those pics to you.
