Looks good! Awaiting "on the car" photos...1 coat of under coat 3 color coats 3 clear coats ................View attachment 1125 I will delete the AWD and paint the GT flat black as well
I cannot imagine the antsiness...Can you tell I'm getting antsy !! The wait is killing me ..............so close
The paint is chipping on the Stinger logo ! I'm going to plasti dip it in the Spring , never did put the Turbo on!
Good info , I cleaned the surfaces thoroughly with rubbing alc too but clearly that doesnt work . Plast dip seems to stick like hell though !That's not uncommon actually. I've dealt with a bunch of customers who purchased our custom letterings because they tried to do their own and it didn't work out well. The chrome surface is a real pain in the rear when it comes to paint adhesion due to the chrome sealer that's applied at the factory, even if primer is used. We actually have a 2-stage chemical preparation process that must be applied BEFORE primer is sprayed on. Without the prep process, paint will pull off.
Be nice ! Actually the texture that PD adds is pretty cool , I think its fine for emblems , but then I dont sell them for a livingYea but up close it really doesn't have a nice consistent finish. Plus, personally I wouldn't use PlastiDip anywhere even remotely close to my brand new $40k+ car. That stuff is for kiddies with their little rice mobiles IMHO.

Honesty is a nice quality !!Though, if you get someone who knows what they are doing (someone that paints cars for a living), PlastiDip can look pretty damn sharp. But, I agree with you because I DON'T know what I'm doing and my stuff would look like shit.![]()
Oh nice! We can do these professionally done in matte black, glossy black and OEM paint-matched colors. I haven't had enough Stinger inventory come in to spare doing extras for promotional purposes, but this is a customization product we've offered for years. Guess I'll have to whip up some Stinger ones asap!

Eh, on that thought, no reputable painter--especially someone who does it for a living--would, in their right mind use PlastiDip. The finish simply doesn't look like paint, and for good reason too...it isn't paint! I agree that when you're not up close, PlastiDip looks fine and has some interesting colors for sure. However, when you're up close its very obvious what it is. Granted, this is "good enough" for some people and that's perfectly fine. Personally though (and also taking customer high demands into account), we'd never touch the stuff.Though, if you get someone who knows what they are doing (someone that paints cars for a living), PlastiDip can look pretty damn sharp. At the moment, no. Chroming (or chrome coating over synthetics) is a whole different animal compared to paint and powdercoating. With chroming, there's a minimum order quantity involved simply to offset cost. It's probably easier and cheaper to have a whole new part made as opposed to sending a ton of OEM Stinger logos to be chromed. In the end it all comes down to demand. At this point it's not in our plans to do a dark chrome or gunmetal OEM-style Stinger lettering, but I'll keep my eye open for chatter about it. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to get my hands on an actual Stinger to give it a good once-over, so any products we're doing for it are based off OEM and aftermarket parts that were purchased. Once we have a car--either local customer or purchased in house--we'll really get cracking. It's still early on in the game though.Would you be doing any Stinger scripts in dark/smoke chrome to match the front end and side mirror accents?
As I said the painting method I did was thorough but I still ended up with a few very very small chips , I'm researching the acid dip procedure for pre paint prep , the chrome is just not holding paint .............Mine looks fine but I know whre the chips are which bother me , so in the Spring I'm going to redo the emblems ..............of course you know someone will be offerring them for sale eventually !!I really want a matte black Stinger logo on the back of my car!
The thing about that is - will it be worth the frustration of getting the double sided tape on the back of the STINGER emblem? That looks like a heck of a tedious endeavor...As I said the painting method I did was thorough but I still ended up with a few very very small chips , I'm researching the acid dip procedure for pre paint prep , the chrome is just not holding paint .............Mine looks fine but I know whre the chips are which bother me , so in the Spring I'm going to redo the emblems ..............of course you know someone will be offerring them for sale eventually !!
Totally AGREE !. But I like the challange of finding what to treat the surface with prior to painting ( I'm not wanting to do anything that involves the tape )The thing about that is - will it be worth the frustration of getting the double sided tape on the back of the STINGER emblem?
