Paint Issues - Paint simply rubbed off!

Without a chemical bath, thus melting the plastic bumper, there is no way to strip and re-spray the entire bumper is there?
they sand them down

So KIA called back and is actually giving me the option of a complete re-spray of THIS bumper from a local body shop or just have a their "professional" touch up the spot. They warned that any time a body shop re-sprays the color may be noticeable in the sunlight, etc. I am concerned about the paint not matching with a re-spray and haven't made a decision.

Anybody have any experience with a bumper re-spray? I am not sure what to do. They do have it documented in case there is a problem in the future. Any opinions?

Respray. 100%. Do not get them to touch it up. Any decent body shop will be able to get the color 100%, especially on such a new car. I wouldn't worry about it.

respray !! My rear bumper was painted after a minor accident , 100 % match , go find the best shop in your city that paints all the German cars

As stated earlier, you would have a new bumper sprayed the exact same way, as they are sold unpainted, so your concerns over color match are irrelevant.

Color match on plastic to metal is a real challenge. And over time, the colors "drift" away from each other as the paint ages on the different surfaces. An older car can look quite silly with plastic and metal panels fading at different rates. But that said, what other choice is there? The body shop will match it as closely as humanly possible (as long as you get a good body shop, of course, which we all expect of you:P).

the key to maintaining your paint quality is maintaining your paint !! Wax and sealant or PPF or whatever rocks your boat

I'm convinced then. The body shop they want to use has wonderful reviews and has been in business for 30+ years.

Does KIA provide loaners for Stinger owners?

A good dealer will provide loaners for usually all service requirements, not just for Stinger owners. The ones around me would give a loaner to a Rio owner, or a Stinger owner. Hopefully you will be covered since this work will take a *few* days (depending on paint cure time).

As promised, the Dealership had my front bumper painted. I cannot tell a difference. The body shop they used did a terrific job and the advice I received from this forum was dead on. I was worried about having new paint on the car, but not any more. Thanks to all for the advice about going through with the re-spray 1.webp 2.webp .

Kia of New Bern, NC treated me right. They provided a 2021 loaner SUV and did right by me.
