Hey guys,

The other day I noticed the paint looking like its cracking on my roof right behind the sunroof, but only on the 2 bars that extend across the top. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if anyone has an idea why this is happening?

Thanks!

It's a common issue that many members have experienced, your local dealer should cover it under warranty.

I've had it happen, dealer just ordered the part will be covered under warranty

This is happening on mine as well, I bought mine as a certified preowned and it came with their KIAs warranty so would mine still be able to be warrantied?

From what I've read on here, Kia is saying these rails are plastic thus should never have been painted in the first place even though there are other parts of the car that are plastic and painted o_O. They will cover the rails under warranty but you'll receive the new rails unpainted.

so would they just be plain black then?

From what I've read here yes. Not sure if others have received them painted but if they have, it could be up to the individual dealerships how they handle it. Although dealers can't even change the tire presser without checking with corporate so I would think corporate makes the call. Just wrap the roof and forget about it;)

Happened to me but I received painted rails to replace them. I’m afraid it’s going to happen again.

If this ever happens to mine, I will have them wrapped; try and match the Silky Silver; failing to find a match, I would probably wrap the roof and strips gloss black.

I’ve considered just having the pieces wrapped to match the satin trim they put on the handles and etc, I think that would look good and I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

My new ones have arrived at the dealership service department. They are a dull black finish. If they were glossy I would have had them installed without painting. Instead, I went and talked to the body shop manager. He seemed confident he can paint the trim and make it last. Hopefully, it does. Worst case, if the paint cracks or fades again, I will just wrap it in gloss black myself.

I second wrapping the roof. You can even wrap the A-pillars, all the body panels are nicely aligned for a blacked out top and looks amazing on every Stinger I've seen it on.

I got mine through the dealership and I paid out of pocket for them but they did come unpainted! More of a matte black and tbh I left them like that! I think it look great with other matte black accents!
