Hi,

Car: 2019 Stinger GT2, Black
Purchase - March 2020

So I recently noticed on the roof of my car above the two rear doors, there is something like a weather stripe of some sort and the paint on it is cracking pretty bad. I don't have a garage and I live in Long Island, New York. So it is weathered pretty good. Anyone have the same issue and if so any recommendation on how to fix it as a DIY and keep this in mind. I am not very handy. I've uploaded a photo of the cracking. It's happening on both sides but it's snowing right now so the photo won't be the best but if you look close enough there are cracks or vein looking lines on it.

Thanks!

its covered under warranty , very common

No, really? That would be so awesome if the dealership can fix it. I was afraid I would have to repaint that part.

Yes, you're good for a year yet (36 months on paint). Some of those "drip rails" look positively scabrous. Yours don't look that bad, yet. It is a weathering thing, out in the hot sun a lot is what causes this, as near as I can tell. @rocket23 solved his crazed/scabrous drip rails issue by stripping them down to the bare steel and polishing then clear coating them. In the pics he's shared, they look really good. Others have wrapped theirs, but I don't know how well that will last long-term, as those rubber edges don't hold wrap well if at all. Others have gloss black painted theirs, and others have had them repainted the body color. As I recall, the replacements will need to be painted, as they come unpainted; all warranty covered inside that 36 month window.

That's awesome! Thanks.
I don't think I'll be able to strip anything down to the bare metal and repaint. I'm not good with that at all. Maybe I'll get a few strips of vinyl wrap to protect it. I just hope I don't have to leave my car over night at the dealership. I live way too far and the Stinger is my only car. =(

Just confirm dealer has the parts before you go in (early) and tell them you will wait whilst they replace. The whole process should take less than 1 hr.
