Oil Catch Can inquiry

ADD W1 does the job. Simple to install, simple to clean. Basically same as post #18 but ADD W1. BMS also has one worth looking at. Good luck have fun with it. Cheers.

Damn, that's a lot of oil. What do you do with it? Dump it or pour it back in?

Dump it out cause there could be a mixture of water, fuel and oil.

I saw the BMS one. Looks to be "maintenance free". Gravity pulls the separated oil back into the crankcase. Anyone bought this one?

Do you really want that slop back in the crankcase

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
ADD W1 Dual Inlet. Dump it out every oil change. You can argue all you want about them but I know where it is connected and the fact that I get oil at all should be proof enough that they are needed.

Who is arguing? I think we are comparing.

There is one very important reason for them to do this, to stick with simplicity.

The lowest common denominator car owner.

Also after that..it makes more money for the dealerships when you have to go in at over 100k miles and get your valves cleaned from all the gunk that builds up on them and robs you of power.

I would consider a Dual catch can over a single. Especially after seeing the coating of oil on the inside of my intake side catch can.
3.3TT - Oil Catch Can?<----see my photos here after 2 weeks roughly 1000 miles of driving

I bought one - it's waiting for my job to get less busy - I should install it soon.. It may not be the best, but it should be better than nothing..

I only question the wisdom of this. Ok I get the wanting something maintenance free, but after seeing and smelling what came though the PCV catch can...maybe you like a mix of moisture and gas mixed with oil in your crank case. Did you see my post of what I got in my can after two weeks? 3.3TT - Oil Catch Can?
It was pretty consistent with what I've seen others get from theirs. It's a muddy looking mix of oil, gas and water with sediment at the bottom of all that.

I believe all that returning back (except the moisture) is problem ok in the short run but the long haul it will problem damage the engine. So I will be buying the ADD W1 V3 can. Just my 2 cents

Now I’m not the best mechanic but what I don’t understand is, is this normal for all that? If not then why does Kia allow this. Does this happen in other type vehicles? I know someone said the after market engineers jumped on the Stinger for this. Did they do the same for other vehicles too? Just a little confused with all this. ‍♂️

The oil system does have a filter, plus, it gets replaced / changed on a regular basis. I mean, if it's THAT bad mixed in with the oil, I can only imagine stock Stingers will start dying at 50K miles left and right.. Sure, a full double-can setup may be "best" from an ideal point of view, but I can't imagine a BMS can would be WORSE than stock. I'm only driving ~7.5K miles / year these days..

You're using the no maintenance OCC from BMS?

I have the Add W1 cause I like the dipstick feature. But if I were to do it again, I think I'd just stick with a single can. Nothing is getting caught on the CCV side so don't think it's worth it.

Other GDI engines have this from my understanding. It is not just KIA. VW and others. The feeling is that it's hard enough to get people to change their oil and now you want them to empty a catch can? WMI is another thing to stay on top of if you install a system.

I have a 2012 Charger with 110,000 miles cause I do change the oil religiously, full synthetic oil every 8,000 miles. The Kia dealership I bought it from said I need to change the synthetic blend oil every 5,000 miles so can I change the catch can then?
