Hi all,

Apologies if this isn't the right place but was trying to research oil catch cans and when I was trying to buy the SXTH ELEMENT OCC, I was told that my state deems oil catch cans illegal. I live in New Jersey. Anyone ever install an oil catch can in a state that deems PCV modifications illegal? Is it worth the headache? I figured an oil catch can would be a good, beneficial install but not if it's just going to be a headache for inspection / maintenance at the dealer.

I live in New York so I'm not sure it's legal in my state or not but worse comes to worse I can always take it off during inspections and dealership visits.

Got it, yeah that makes sense. Which catch can did you go with? Just curious! Not sure which ones will ship to NJ now haha.

Catch cans are illegal because of PCV modifications. Just put it back to stock when smog comes.

NJ has some of the most nonsensical laws, I swear.

They won’t notice in NJ.
The only inspectors that seem to be that astute (or care) are Cali inspectors.
I have the SxthElement as well.

Got it! How'd you get the SxthElement shipped to NJ? Or did they just recently stop shipping to states with PCV modification laws? At this point I may have to go with a DIY solution. Which will probably make my wallet happy, but won't look as nice lol.

Oh, wow, I didn’t realize their policies changed. I simply ordered during a sale, no issues.

Ive spoken to them on the phone a few times. Might be best to call.

If all else fails, the Mishimoto one is very nice.

Haha actually went with Mishimoto so I'll install this weekend! Thanks for the answers all!
