Noticeably jerky downshifts in when braking.

None of that. The car looks basically brand new apart from the missing clips on the heat shield under the hood and the bubbling window tinting on the real windshield but 0 evidence of any mods I can find. I'm going to have an inspection done on it tomorrow anyway since I have 30 days to return it.
But heres hoping it's all good cause I dont wanna give it back.

It's a different car altogether, but my previous car, a MINI JCW, suffered jerky auto downshifts from 4-3.

The 8-speed Aisen transmission eventually had to be replaced due to out-of-tolerance system readings caused by from defective bearings.

Goodluck and let us know how thr inspection goes!

I notice it a bit, but like others have said this has been a strategy for 'assisted braking' baked into transmission programming for a lot of years. I guess I'm used to it, having mostly econo and entry lux vehicles prior. The Stinger is a Kia, dontcha know?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Mine started doing this after about 6-7k miles. Have the dealer clear the transmission adaptive values via their computer. made it disappear for a few thousand miles. I'm starting to get them again, although not as bad as the first time.

Interested to hear if that works for you.

Id be curious to know if the top of your fuse box under the hood (left back corner when you're facing the front of the car with hood open) has any visible velcro or tape marks on it, if it does that would mean they were at least running a piggyback tune at some point.

Id always be worried someone has heavily modified a car and then when they break something do what they can to hide it before trading it to an unsuspecting dealer.
LOL. I have my JB4 bolted to the cover with nylon bolts/nuts, and a spare untouched cover if I ever remove the JB4.
All connections are removeable, including using the fuel wire adapters. It would be nearly impossible to tell I ever had it once I remove it all.
I even had a spare interior fuse cover when I had my brake fuse snip switch to bypass launch control (that was before the Lozic TCU).

You would be doing the world a good bit of service posting your VIN so no one buys your car second hand.

Haha true true. I once had the pleasure of driving a genesis 3.0t that looked unmodified at a quick glance (if I had take two more seconds I would have seen it was lowered) but they cut the coilovers to the point that I gave myself a concussion (not literally but it hurt) going over a small bump. Tossed the sales guy the keys and said get rid of this anyway you can but you'll never sell it.

It’s normal on the stinger.

Most “sports” cars have aggressive downshifts.

You want buttery smooth, get a different car.
what a goddamn stupid and useless response. A lot of these people have been having a problem in the Kia stinger downshifting and it has solely to do with the transmission fluid and the module needing to be reset You obviously have no idea what you're talking about and you sound extremely obnoxious in your replies. If you don't have anything good to say just keep it to yourself you numb nut
