Anyone have a noisy auto tailgate? I've noticed mine has started making a clickety clickety clickety noise lately, not sure if it's just coincided with the colder weather setting in.

It does it on the way up and on the way down, also started doing it on both sides at pretty much the same time.

I don't hear anything except traffic and then the motor raising the gate.

Slight ratchet sound on opening

Have a look around the motor drive area if you can find it

Maybe some idiot opened it manually which you are not supposed to do

I would direct you to the complete Stinger Service Manual but the link no longer works

On reflection I'm thinking that idiot might be me, I remember when the tailgate was on a collision course for some overhanging brickwork after opening it not long ago, I panicked and pushed it back down just in time rather than pushing the button.

Saved my spoiler but might have mildly f*cked the struts, will just have to see how they hold up i think.

If you just mean the whirring from 4-7 seconds, that's exactly how mine sounds. I'm not sure if that little bit of creaking at 5-6 seconds is an artifact / background noise, or if that's the sound you mean, but mine doesn't do that.

Soooo turns out the struts are fine and the issue was just a classic case of overthinking. It was the looped string from the parcel shelf chaffing around the hangers causing a ratcheting noise on both sides.

Only realised when I went to get another video and unhooked the parcel shelf hangers so I could rest my phone on it and all of a sudden the issue had fixed itself. A dab of silicone grease and it's back to normal.

I feel stupid... but not as stupid as I would if I'd asked the dealer to check the struts out on the next service.
