No more funny cat videos for you homie! Both numbers say they dont work for the 2.slo.NGK number
92422 should be the stock number
Save your cash until you have a tune coming your way. Thanks! Don't know how you did that, lol. That looks like it has to be it...same exact number as what was in that bulletin too! Just so crazy that NGK's own site says nothing available, etc. Wonder if it is a licensing thing or something, can only sell through Kia (or wherever you can find them).
So now I am going to order those unless someone tells me the HKS is worth the 120 bucks and safe for a 2.0 stock car?
What does a tune do? Just increases the boost (and therein, remaps fuel/spark timing) correct? Is there a point to doing that on the 2.0? I have been thinking about trading this one in for a 22 or 23 gt-line for the 2.5 engine. But annoyed by some changes they made, like taking out the front parking sensors, the ambient/mood lighting, the sunglasses holder, and the seat memory settings. But if I get a tune for the 2.0, would I see a big increase in power...and a SAFE one? Like, not wanting to ruin the car prematurely. I already use 91 or 93 octane.Save your cash until you have a tune coming your way.
Its kind of a tough question to answer, really depends on what you want. Piggyback tunes are the least expensive route and definitely will get you more go. A full ecu tune will be more consistent and smoother through out the power band. Most popular by far on here IMO would be the Jb4. Plenty of support and lots of options and engine safeties built in. All my experiences with it are second hand, lots of friends running them. I surprisingly enough do not have a Jb4, im running a lap3 unclechip. (They dont sell it anymore)What does a tune do? Reposting my own post from page.1 of this thread. They have been running just fine for the past 1+yrs on both cars. If they are incompatible, these plugs sure didn't get the memo.We are running NGK ILKR9Q7G Laser Iridium spark plugs in both our 2.0T Stinger and G70. 1 heat range higher than OEM. We've done AutoX and Track Day, with no issues so far. Veloster N and Elantra N guys run them too.
JB4 is about as plug an play as it gets. Basically 3 plugs on the engine + the OBD2 port. I stay Map 0 for daily driving, as I have zero need for street heroics. It is exactly the same as running bone stock. On my morning commute right now, not needing to run A/C just yet, I'm getting 35+mpg indicated. I only switch to Map 1 or 2 for AutoX or track day, mostly to get the turbo to spool up faster and minimize turbo lag. Love the flexibility of it.Thanks guys...I am looking at the RaceChip thing now, and the JB4. That one seems complicated though. I like just plug and play, so maybe the RC for me. I do not want to have any sort of drop in mileage, which is why I got the 2.0 in the first place. I believe the tunes would kill the mileage.
Volfy, thanks, I went directly to NGK and that is what it shows (I did look at other vendor sites too of course). I ended up buying the NGKs that were linked to me in this thead by Rodtheviking. This thread might be helpful for others, especially after learning that they issued a TSB on the plugs for at least the 2018 Theta II (2.0). I am hoping I will see an uptick with new plugs, gapped properly. Will also be interesting to see if any oddities with the plugs, like cracks or weird gaps.
Terry can also provide a back end flash for those that have an EK1 tuning platform. I run this and it gives me the same performance as map 1 or map 2 without a jb4. I still use my jb4 for WMI and logging though.Piggyback. It's actually a great unit. The logging of how your car is running is super helpful as well. Plus the support from Terry at BMS on here and members that know a ton is super cool
