New Wheels on my Kia Stinger GT

Typically when someone increases the wheel size they decrease the sidewall size to keep the overall diameter closer to stock size. That would mitigate the speedometer inaccuracy. In his case, he kept the sidewall the same size while also increasing the wheel size so it makes for a much taller tire. His car is sitting quite a bit higher than stock. It probably feels like a small SUV and at hwy speeds he definitely will be driving at different speeds than what's shown in the car.
It feels the same actually, ride quality doesn’t feel bad at all.

I've had plenty of 40 series tires, my Lightning for instance has a 295 40 20 my old trans am that had Vette wheels was a 275 40 17. The sidewall is noticeable taller/thicker then the 35 on the rear of Stinger. That's what I'm saying. 35 is a lower profile. I'm not a huge fan of the lower profile, especially living in MN.

I'm horrible at explaining this.

A 295-40-20 is 29.3" tall. The sidewall is 4.6".
40% of 295mm = 118mm. 118mm = 4.6".

A 275-40-17 is 25.7" tall. The sidewall is 4.3".
40% of 295mm = 110mm. 110mm = 4.3".

A 255-35-19 (Stinger rear size) is 26" tall. The sidewall is 3.5".
35% of 255mm = 89.25mm. 89.25mm = 3.5".

So again, don't focus on that "40" number. It means drastically different things depending on the width of the tire. Different widths will mean the "40" will be different sizes. 40 is just a percentage. So a smaller number on a wider tire can actually give you MORE sidewall. For example, a 295-40-20 will give you skinnier sidewalls than a 325-35-20.

I think you're doing pretty good job. It's not the easiest thing to explain.
Some people just aren't good at maths. All the explaining in the world may never get through.

It's maybe 1.5" inch taller(? maybe someone good with the maths could figure it exactly), probably would only notice it when really pushing things.

I pushed 115 the other day no difference
On a turn? The dodge challenger is fast in a straight line, too. :p

It's also fair to note that if you don't have your tires screeching in every turn you likely will never notice a difference any handling related change will make. I'm guilty of rarely enjoying that aspect of the vehicle. No judgment intended. But being slightly higher is matter-of-fact going to impact driving dynamics due to simple math and engineering principles. Whether it's just more lean or some actual drop in skid pad performance would have to be measured before/after.

Lol

I think they look good, some lowering springs might help with the wheel gap obviously. The Stinger federation edition they were taking around to all the car shows way back was rocking TSW sprint wheels with eibach springs.

Here’s a good comparison pic I saved way back of the stock 19s vs aftermarket 20s both lowered. I was going to go with 20s but I found a good deal on barely used Michelin tires from another stinger owner and had my stock wheels powdercoated. Much cheaper overall.0399FAFD-4C26-4919-9DCE-56ABE6658209.jpeg
