My wife wrecked 2 wheels fore and aft a while back. Found a shop with quick access to aftermarket wheels so had them installed. Though I ordered stock sizes they put 19 by 8.5 on the front and 19 by 9.5 on the rear. The tires are stock sizes michelin all season.

Sadly I have a very noticeable vibration and its worse at certain speeds. The car steers fine with no pulling to either side but I suspect something else was damaged when she hit those potholes. Any ideas before I throw more money at this thing?

PS. Wife now has her own POS car.

Go to a tire shop and have them road force balance the wheels.

Also make sure those aftermarket wheels are hubcentric and have the right hub size to fit snug against the car’s hub. Wheels can vibrate if they don’t.

I will be sure to check on that. Car is going back to the same place. They specialize in custom, aftermarket setups. They have several stores in Western Canada.

Good wheel size; that's what I run, with no problems. I hope that your vibration is only an easily corrected imbalance of some kind and not, as you fear, something more deep and expensive. Good to get other hands and butts off and out of your car.

Have to ask, but are they new tires or old ones that were on the damaged wheels? Could possibly be a damaged tires

That is a possibility. The front tire was replaced but the rear is suspect.

Another thing I noticed is the sizes don't seem to be right. Correct me if I'm wrong but the rears should be 19x8.5 and the front should be 19x8 stock. The weight difference between what they gave you and what stock is can cause major problems with balance.

That's not the problem.

How do you figure? Wheel weight and width has nothing to do with balance. My TSW "Watkins" weigh c. 21 lbs.; the OE 19" wheels weigh c. 34 lbs. I've not encountered an imbalance issue yet.

That's not how balancing wheels works...

Update:

Well guess what? Those f*****s didn't use the hubcentric rings. I had it back in Monday for the shaking and they balanced my wheels again and sent me on my way without noticing the missing rings.

Had it into kia this morning and they spotted the missing rings right away. They also inspected the suspension for any other trauma. They would have installed the rings had they been able to find them locally. No charge!

Drove back to the wheel guys and they fixed their f*****p. They didn't have a good explanation but did give me an instore credit to shut me up. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.IMG_20210726_101820413_HDR.webp

They didn't have a good explanation
If you had only talked with the super/boss, he might have lamented that, "It is so hard to find good help these days."

They were embarrassed for sure. They are training a new fellow and " probably " never discussed hubcentric issues with him.

Glad you got the issue resolved quickly and cheaply.
