Hi, this is my first Kia. I was hesitant to switch from my Subaru; I had a Legacy GT 2.5 turbo limited forever! 11 years and 135k miles. Love that car. But I tore my Achilles and can't drive a stick anymore. So I looked at the Stinger as opposed to another Subaru because of all of the reviews and features and I'm hooked. I actually bought a GT1 which I hadn't planned on. I love it. I need to figure out which octane to put in though. My Subaru needed 93 for the turbo.

G’day & welcome to the club, you will enjoy the Stinger just as much & if not more than your Subie.
I only run premium Shell V-Power (98) here in OZ, a personal preference I have done with all my cars.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your Stinger GT! Sorry to hear about the injury...

It should be noted that the Aussies use a different octane rating method than the U.S. Here it is the (R+M/2) which equates to 93 octane. I think the manuals now call for 91 recommended but 87 will work. If your car was a late 2017 build, the manual may only call for 87 which has been supersceded. Use only top tier fuels (toptiergas.com) or a fuel cleaner every 6,000 miles.

Can't use a clutch? Paddle shifters (and manual gate? My GT1 has that) to the rescue!

I have only put premium gas (91 octane around here) in my Stinger. Why mess around with what "works okay"?

What color GT1 did you get?

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the upgrade.

Definitely stick with the highest octane available in your area. Just like with your Subi.

Hi Dpk, welcome to the forum. I put 93 octane in my stinger. Anyway enjoy the forum.

Filled up this morning with 89 oct after the 91 oct test from the previous fill up. My calculation for the tank filled with 91 was 23.6 mpg. The previous tank using 89 was 26.4 mpg. Driving conditions were similar, no long highway or heavy stop light traffic. I think the main difference was due to the type of driving and not the octane of the gas. So, went back to 89. Don't think the higher octane gives better mileage results.

If i remember correctly it does say in owners manual use a higher octane.

I find my cars feel better with higher octane gas, so I run that in my cars. By the to the OP, welcome and congrats on the new ride. Had a 2005 Llegacy 2.5 wagon (with a 5 speed stick) back in the day, the balance on that car was so good, it was fun to drive. Loved that car.
