I had to post this here because we are the only ones who will understand how dam stupid this really is, and what is going to become of a fantastic car. You should notice that the car is marked DOWN from the price yesterday of ONLY $80,100...... Seriously?!

I'm not singling Kia out here, other manufacturer dealerships do this but DAM, this is why all the awesome cars go bye-bye after 2-4 model years. The manufacturers need to reign this kind of blatant predatory BS in and slap the dealers for doing it. This just gives more fuel to the 'Tesla way' of selling cars. View attachment 3129

We will have our Yellow GT2 AWD @ Sticker as soon as it arrives.

That is awesome, and thank you for being an honest dealer with the Stinger. Not many times can you say that, but it is definitely appreciated by us. If I was closer to IN, I would have to come by just to say thanks in person.

Appreciate the kind words. Kia as a manufacturer wants these vehicles on the road. The Kia name is getting better every year and people/enthusiasts are starting to forget what Kia use to be. The Stinger is an amazing vehicle. We just need more drivers who will take a chance with us. Selling a Kia at $15,000 over sticker is not a way to gain a new fan base or following. I do not care how limited the vehicle or color is.

Unless that one has a dealer installed option of "suitcase with $15K Cash" move on and find another one. Cars.com is increasing by a few each day.

The Narco Edition .........................

I had to pay a dealer markup of around $1800 just because I bought a yellow Limited. It was distasteful but I wanted the car. kIA is trying to improve and compete with the big boys. They have hit a home run with this new model and should make sure this kind of activity doesn't happen. KIA spends a lot of money advertising their brand and yet the fastest way to kill sales is this kind of markup. It leaves a sour taste in the buyers mouth and I know it turns buyers away and leaves a black mark on the brand. Word gets around and is much cheaper than advertising but it can also have a negative impact on the brand for what is nothing more than greed by a dealer.

I'm glad to see the price change. More will be gained by doing the right thing.
David , Kia Dealers may be in a retreat on this and Kia USA is likely really coming down on dealers . Would it be worth your while to approach the dealer for a service credit or rebate , you would probably get support from Kia USA ,
Good Luck

I think what I'll do is give KIA the chance to do the right thing first. I know they follow this thread and if they really are cracking down then here is their chance. I firmly believe in integrity.

Me , too , But sometimes it pays to be the sqeeky wheel , dealers are a unique animal , I hope they come through for you !!

I didn't get any inquiry from KIA so I guess KIA isn't really all that concerned about dealers charging a premium for their cars. Carriage KIA of Woodstock Ga is where I purchased my Stinger, because it was yellow, I had to pay a premium. I'm not mad about it but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth because it was simply about taking an advantage of the situation. Homda use to do that back when their civics were selling like crazy but I never bought one because of the practice. It is what it is.

Sorry, but if you paid it, there is no one else to blame but yourself. Cars and anything else in life are worth the amount someone will pay for it. People being willing to pay over MSRP are exactly why dealers try to charge over MSRP.

I've written Kia 3 times about this BS and never heard a word from them. Unfortunately, they aren't really backing up their words with actions from our point of view.

You missed the point. I said I wasn't mad, what I said is I paid it because I wanted the car. that said, I also said it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that I had to. It's the policy of allowing this type of selling that IMHO doesn't help the brand at all.

Was really hoping to get in a Yellow GT2 that the salesman told me he'd work with me on the price, since all their other GT2's and even a yellow base GT were discounted $900, but when they got it delivered he said the manager won't budge from MSRP. Fair's fair, at least they're not marking it up.

That dealer in AZ started at $68.8K and now is down to $60K one week later. Be patient. I am still working my first dealer as well that wanted ridiculous add ons. Clearly no one in my area is willing to bite on the mark ups. Funny too since the one at $68.8K was supposedly "sold" as was advised by the internet manager but he "could get me into it if came in today to sign..." As i laughed i said thanks and best of luck with that sale.
