New stingers coming

Those rendered taillights are god awful. There is no reason to get rid of the distinct shape we have now just to look like a Charger.

Also, I wouldn't hold your breath about those new engines coming to the Stinger.

"So can we all stop buying baby AMG and M models with four-cylinder engines and just give Kia some money?" :)

Maybe they did it to try to clear the old models off the lots because they look better.

Not a big fan of the back.....curious what the front will look like based on the spy photos

Did you see the refreshing new headlight? It's...subtle.

The convenient artistic glare is hiding any detail you might want to pick out on color (amber or not) or details.

I'm totally biased, I don't think it needed an update, I still look at my car and go "damn...:geek:"

Agreed. I think the tail lights of the Stinger are one of its many highlights. This is going backwards. I think the current daytime running lights are better too. 380hp would be nice though.

380 hp is an easily achievable number currently. Catback + catless secondaries + CAI = at least 15 hp

whoever is responsible for those tail light changes should lose their job

I would have to agree (well maybe nothing as sever as losing their jobs in these times, maybe be taken out and beaten with socks...), those changes to the tail lights are terrible IMO. That is one of the features of the Stinger that I loved when I first saw it, the very unique tail lights.

I still come up on another stinger at night time and for a split second think to myself “dayum that looks good what is that? oh wait...sweeeeet”

the only changes I would do the taillights is the light up the reflectors between each light. you know, the piece under the hatch. yes, it might look charger-ish, but I saw a Maserati the other night, and our taillights are similar, but his were super distinctive. don't know if he had changed the bulbs or something. oh and the back up lights need to be a little brighter, or it could be I am getting old. nah, can't be me getting old.....what were we talking about?

Interesting read.

"it is understood that it is most likely to continue on with the 3.3L V6 and increase output from its current 272kW, 510Nm mark to more than the G80’s. ...it could increase output by more than 15-20kW" (~20-27 hp)

"along with the mechanical improvements, there will apparently be changes to enhance the ride and handling."
I think this is the bigger takeaway. Factory handling improvements (larger sways, more range between comfort and sport suspension - guesses) would really dial in the feel of the car.

The bigger info screen is a cool add, but also, nothing is confirmed and I'll be surprised to see if there is a ton of updating to this car.

Enhanced handling/ride, if any, will be accomplished with suspension programming, not hardware; or I shall be very much surprised. I bet that any horsepower increase will be minimal, 15 horses at the most, and only the Oranges will get it. :P;)

MOTOR AUTHORITY

More power reportedly on the cards for Kia Stinger

VIKNESH VIJAYENTHIRAN

APRIL 14, 2020

The shapely sport sedan offers coupe-like lines, a pair of turbocharged engines, and the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive—and now it seems Kia has more in store for the Stinger very soon.

The automaker is working on a mid-cycle update that we're likely to see introduced for the 2021 model year (the Stinger bowed as a 2018 model), and Car Sales citing sources close to Kia reported on Tuesday that among the updates will be more power.

Before you get too excited we must report that there won't be any new engines, meaning rumors of a V-8 or even the new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 from the Genesis G80 and GV80 making it into the Stinger can be quashed. Instead, the 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 currently fitted to the Stinger will reportedly be tuned to deliver more than its current 365-horsepower rating by way of a new bi-modal exhaust system.

2020 Kia Stinger

No change is reported for the Stinger's 2.0-liter turbocharged 4, currently rated at 255 hp, or the sedan's standard 8-speed automatic.

Camouflaged prototypes for the updated Stinger have been spotted in Kia's home market of Korea. They suggest that some visual tweaks are in store. One we know that's coming are larger exhaust tips, likely reflecting the new exhaust system.

Kia's last update for the Stinger was the introduction of the Stinger GTS for 2020. The more track-focused model featured both software and hardware upgrades to help it slice through corners better.
