New Stinger owner ...

I have rwd and live in South Carolina and do not need awd. You will like your new rwd stinger. Welcome to the forum.

I personally prefer RWD over AWD from a maintenance standpoint. Less stuff to break and a little lower cost of ownership over the lifetime. You do get better launch and such with AWD though.

Even though I do get ice and snow here in Virginia, I still wanted RWD. I also work from home, although even when it did snow I was never forced to drive to work.

Hell yeah an owner in SC!!!

My name is Jay Graff and I purchased a 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 RWD last night. It is ceramic silver with red leather interior and it is simply amazing. I have ALWAYS been a fan of these cars ever since they came out and I wanted to get the last year's model before they went away. I live in Kingwood, Texas (just north of Houston). I have some questions that I will post today. I am happy to be part of this group ...

Congrats and welcome!!
Just arrived home from work. On my way home, stopped for gas and ran into a young man with a 2023 GT2. He approached me, started chatting about our love for our cars. Asked him if he was modded anywhere. Looked at me and asked, “ Whats a mod?”……… That was the end of our conversation.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good ...

Welp.. gotta go.

RWDs have more fun
This is factual. I live in the snow belt and wish I could have had rwd or at least a gts so I could have had the lsd on the rear. Oh well…. At least I can get the car to lose its rear grip here and there when it’s wet. Interested to see how it is in the snow.

Thanks for all the great inputs ... I really appreciate it. Another question: In terms of reliability (this question stems from the fact that I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax TRD 4x4 with a 6" lift on 35 / 12.50s that I bought new with 54 miles on it and I now have almost 200k and have had ZERO issues with this truck -- I parked this and will use only when I need a truck): How good are these Stingers in terms of reliability and cost to maintain? I absolutely LOVE this car and from the moment I saw one in 2018, I said 'that SOB will be in my driveway one day ...' -- I have only seen one other one in my area and I love the looks that I get ... especially when I leave them in my dust.

Compared to a Tundra anything will be worse.

I have owned several Kia's and finally got a Stinger and I have never had an issue. I would say that regular maintenance is very important with them though, you can't let stuff slide like on a Toyota.

Will these void the warranty?
1st of...welcome!

2ndly, if you're in the states Magunsson/Moss is a thing. So, to my knowledge, the only way they can void the warrantee is if the stealership proves that said mod caused whatever to break, and they can't void the entire car warrantee for a single mod, but they also will not warantee the mod. Usually by the time it's invoked you already got the lawyers present.

So hypothetically as an example, if you install an oil catch can and your rear differential grenades while under warrantee, the dealer has to prove that the catch can what what caused the differential to grenade. Further, they couldn't ay that it voids the warrantee if your sunroof had a leak.

I think it'll depend on the dealership. A few are really good. Some of them have the 1980 move "Used Cars" as a biography.

Anyhow, enjoy your new stinger. They are FUN cars.
