Hello Everyone,

I pick up my new Stinger Indigo Special Edition this afternoon. I am very excited. I am trading in my 2018 WRX Stage 2. I am looking forward to having a little bigger car (for the kiddo) and a more comfortable/quiet ride for trips to the cabin, while also being able to shred a corner or two. My son (almost 4) did say last night he was sad I am getting rid of the WRX because it is fast. Well son, this stinger is probably a touch quicker...

Seef,

Welcome to the forum. And, congrats, on YOUR new stinger. My children were disappointed when I traded in my INFINITI Q50 RS400. But, now they are happy with my Stinger GT1. Show your son that the interior colors can change in your Stinger. My oldest son set it to the color purple. And, when ready, try the Launch Pad. The Stinger is both a luxury and performance sedan. And, it has lots of trunk space.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! I’m glad you found us. :)

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! I am already going down the rabbit hole to find ways to make my stinger mine. I will have to figure out the interior lighting colors, my son will absolutely love that.

I like that I do not see stingers very often up here (North Dakota), so I have something more unique than a WRX. I cant drive anywhere without seeing at least one WRX around town. I cant wait to get some pictures and do a full detail.

Are you getting AWD since you live in ND? I was in a wedding party in Fargo a long time ago. The wedding was on January 2 --- so freakin' cold -- and I am originally from NYC and lived in Ann Arbor, MI for a while. I think AWD is really valuable in those parts of the country.

Not many Stingers where I am either.... Lots of Kias, but not Stingers. I now live in the sunbelt, so I negotiated the darkest tint legally allowed in my state. Fun to own a car that everyone else does not own. My worry is that if the Stinger undersells it may be discontinued -- sort of like the Chevy SS, which was a car I had my eye on for a very long time.

Howdy. I've actually seen one of that color with my own eyes. It did not disappoint. :D

AWD is a must up here! I will not own a car without it again. Had an 07 Civic Si that was AWD, and I managed, but then getting a Golf R, 335i AWD and most recently WRX, I have come to a greater appreciation. Also, a proper set of winter tires is a must. So I will be looking out for winter tire/wheel setups or possibly getting new summer wheels and putting winter tires on stock wheels. So much to figure out there!

I was set on driving to Illinois to get a white one with red interior. I thought I would hate the Espresso interior (pics looked awful). But after driving it and sitting in it, the brown really is not bad at all. And getting the upgraded audio and few other goodies on the special edition seemed worth it!

yup, the winter tires. Forgot to mention that. LOL. AWD seems like a must.

I have only been able to get these so far. This car NEEDS a detail! I will do full clay, polish, seal here as soon as I get a chance. This blue is really going to pop, the depth is really cool!20200902_195239.webp20200902_190241.webp20200902_190141.webp

Welcome and congrats. I can say for sure you or your son will not be disappointed with the Stinger. It’s a great car.

Awesome but remember if you pass your hand and it smooth like a baby butt don't need to clay the paint, only clay the paint when chemical decontamination and a good hand wash are not cleaning the contamination, also if you clay be prepared to polish the car cuz it will swirl the pain no matter how you carefully do it, pro tips from a semi pro detailer.

Absolutely GenesisG70! I will give a more thorough inspection of the paint once I can hand wash it. There are a ton of adhesive lines from the shipping plastic on the car, so I will have to get rid of all of that before I do anything. I am not sure how many times the dealer washed it, but it already has a ton of swirl marks. Nothing deep, a simple polish should get rid of everything. I might be able to get by without a clay, I can just see there are some flakes still on the car after the dealer wash. I am going to need a new sealant though. I used Chemical Guys Jetseal on my WRX, and am looking for something new to try this time around.

Welcome that is a beautiful car!

I'm overdue for pictures so here we go!
Here is right after Avalon King Ceramic Coating along with a close up of the sparkle!

Next I swapped out the KIA badge. I really like how the black chrome matches the trim and the checker pattern plays off the grill design:

I got what is probably my last hand wash in for the year this weekend:

And lastly, I debadged the GT and AWD and swapped the chrome stinger for black. I really like the symmetry in the back now and how much cleaner it looks.

looks so good!!!

Looks very sharp! The more cars I see with this ceramic coating makes me want to get mine done.
