New Stinger Limited/GT2 owner

Hey friends, I’m a new 2018 Stinger owner. I was thrilled to find this 18k mile gem in suburban Kansas City. I was initially confused as to how a GT2 was produced in this color in this year since it was allegedly not available - then I was more surprised to learn the car was originally from Canada and has the suede headliner and A pillar coverings as well as the 360 Camera.

I was thrilled to find this site and I’ve already learned so much!

This color, Panthera Metal? Because I was going to get my Stinger in that color if my wife had not insisted on Silky Silver. As far as I know, Panthera Metal has been an option the entire Stinger run. I think it's called "Thunder Grey" in Canada, so that might be confusing you.

Thanks! From the literature I read, Panthera Metal was only allowed on a GT, not a GT1 or GT2 in 2018. It seems that changed in 2019.

Interesting. I wasn't told that the GT1 (the trim I settled on) was unavailable in Panthera Metal. But as I say, my wife had other ideas, so pursuing that color didn't actually happen; so, I can't refute what your reading said.

Welcome to the hive! Canadian Stingers don't follow the GT1, GT2 naming, we had GT line (2L) GT, and GT Limited (more or less GT1, and GT2) If you have the rear heated seats and HUD it's GT Limited

Hi Rick,I have so much more to learn and it sounds like you can provide a lot of help. I did not get it from a Kia dealer as none of them in town had a new or used one. After speaking with Kia Canada today, I cannot access Kia Connect on this car unless I go to the regional manager here in the US who has to approve my head unit to be replaced with the US version. As far as the software update, do I need to download the Canadian version?

Yes, the Canadian version. And to change all the units back to imperial it's in the GPS settings after the updat

What did they tell you about your Kia Warranty, if anything? I was told I did not have any in the US. I'm not real concerned about that. I had a 2019 GT2 and never had one thing that needed "waranty service/repair".

There will be a new software/navi maps availabe in May (so they say)-- you will need a 64gb USB stick. The update process is pretty straight forward- simple, really.

I'm surprised that the hardware would need to be changed . . . I would have thought the software would be the solution.

I even tried to use a Canadian address to register for the Canadian version of Uvo/KiaConnect-- but no luck there. Have any idea what switching head units might cost?

I am curious about this too....I now have a Canadian stinger gt2, did not know so many things until after purchase such as no warranty in us and cannot connect to anything.
Is there an app for Canadian cars that I need and how do u bypass location and whatnot. Does owners portal work if use a bogus Canadian zip?

Any tips besides trading for us car....lol
Has everything but remote start and front sensors.

Any other advise or changes that I need to do, somehow to get some sort of connected service, remote start would be nice, maybe better as 3rd party?

Update the infotainment to US, that will fix the gps and radio, but that's about it.
