Hello,

Just joined up.
I Picked up my 2019 Stinger GT Limited, Red this week, Tues. :-)

Already few questions.. I know it's cold and engine is still needing LOOONG breakin for the better fuel economy, but Holy cos this sucks more fuel the the ratings say, which they've been more accurate in most recent years, and I've been driving like an old lady.

Also, anyone else have their headlamps with condensation in them already ? Bad Sealing ?
And the reg. beams aim too low, like only 70-100' max.

Thanks and look forward to some Kia Chat. Is there a local GTA section ? I thought I saw that when I clicked to sign up, but don't see it now ?
And that Stinger Decal to put on the back, is it as big as the one the U.S.A Stingers have or a smaller version ?

If you mean this Stinger decal: Official KIA Stinger dot com decal - Kia Stinger dot com

That's a small piece for the rear side window - not the whole hatch.

We have a Canada section here: Canada Stinger Forum

...but that's supposed to be for Canada-Specific discussion. If you're just looking to talk about general Stinger things - that type of discussion goes in any of the main sections...

Sorry, I meant the Rear hatch Stinger thing, to replace the kia one in the middle.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
That would be the first Stinger I've heard of with condensation in the headlamps.

RE: fuel economy, I'm not sure how many miles you've put on it, but I'm sure once the fuel trims stabilize, it should improve. Mine got better after a couple hundred miles. Then I proceeded to drive it almost the entire way across the state on a 1000mi road trip, and it's been a little better than advertised since.

yes I want one !! is it easy to swap out and not leave any marks on the rear hatch ?
How about the smaller stinger on there now, will that leave a mark when I take it off ? Is it just glued on and I should use blow dryer to warm it up and peel it off ?
Oh, do you ship these to Canada ?

A lot of forum members have swapped out the "little" Stinger badge for the larger centered one. I don't recall anyone having issues leaving marks behind. It's when the KIA ovals are taken off that some people have gotten into trouble. Before you do anything, find the threads where this is discussed at length. The badges and script are attached with 3M double-sided tape and it is tenacious, but the residue comes up with appropriate cleaners and elbow grease.

I've read of a couple of other instances of moisture in the headlight assembly. It is climate related for sure. But why only a few Stingers get this is a mystery. If it's a flaw of some kind its a very rare one.

You can raise your low beams with a #2 Philips screwdriver. A number of us have done this. Here's a good thread about it: How To Adjust Headlight Beam Height

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the hive I Stung U. Cool colour. What sort of mpg are you getting.

I only have just over 1100 kms on it, so needs breaking in, but driving only 250 kms (mostly Hwy., like a baby) and half a tank.
it reads 10.7L/100kms by the time I got home, which isn't terrible, as it's approx. the average it's rated for, but I've done mostly hwy.
It's also cold out and engine needs a good 7k to 10k kms to really break in and drive more effiecient, as did my 2011 Santa fe 3.5L.

My santa fe suv 3.5 L would be way better than this for these two trips/mileage.

And do your head lights pint to not even 100' in front of the car ? I think I've seen others on web say they point too low.

Oh, odd thing, does the engine shut off/on thing try to be smart and turn off if senses a car infront of you when you stop ? and it doesn't if there's no car in front at a stop ? it doesn't always turn off and a yellow symbol comes on and a green one when it does turn off... I hate this and will turn it off, but I left it on for now, so it has a chance to break in too, and see if it gets any smoother.. as it's a bit of a rough re-start.

If you don't want to use the auto start/stop (or as Kia calls it, Idle Stop and go - ISG), then just don't Mine gets turned off every time I get in the car. I hate the feature and there's nothing to break-in there. There are various conditions that must be met in order for the ISG to activate such as coolant temperature, HVAC demands, brake vacuum system pressure, outside temperature, etc. It doesn't care whether or not there is a car in front of you.

^^^ ISG is annoying alright. I always try to remember to turn it OFF first thing after I start the car. It is intermittent based only on interior conditions: it does not "sense" cars in front or not.

Stinger is NOT designed for efficiency. For example, if you put it in sport mode, it will only go into 7th when cruising, not 8th.

ISG will kick in / not kick in depending on brake pedal pressure. Light press = "getting ready to take off again", so no shut off. A harder press = I'm here for a while, go ahead and shut off. My guess is you subconsciously pressed a bit harder in a new car with another car in front of you.

Is that Bowmanville near the zoo that closed a few years ago? My dad loved that zoo. We went a couple of times as kids..

I do highway and suburb runs and usually it sits in the 10.0s on average for the month. On a 30km run to work on the highway, it will be as low as 8.5. I have done 5500kms so for. In comparison, my 3.7L Jeep Liberty sits on 14-15L/100kms usually on school runs. The Stinger is great when compared to this especially when you look at the power differences between the two. I also only use 91RON in the Stinger which assists with the cost.

It was so good that we never got the Idle Stop and Go in the Australian cars. What were they thinking putting that on a high performance vehicle. :(

I guess the cold weather in Canada is now not helping. But I am comparing to what the energuide (natural resource canada site) says it's suppose to be. it's suppose to be only a wee bit more than my 3.5L awd santa fe, but it's noticably more.. but again... I'll wait another few months and see what it is in march-April after break in and better weather. ... I did buy it cause it's fast.. but I did lots of research in comparing vehicles.. and which the fuel ratings was part of that. I was shopping for SUV's and ended up with this, for my mid-life crisis buy.. haha...

on a side note, I've started my own youtube channel doing car reviwes and the Stinger review will be out shortly.
it's: rpmautoreviews.
If I'm allowed, I'll post it in it's own thread ?
