New owner of 2.0 Stinger RWD

Welcome......and congrats.

Welcome to the Hive and congrats on your new Stinger! You'll find lots of like minded people who are also very friendly on this forum! I'm an owner of a base 2.0 rwd and am someone who tends to hold onto cars until they die. My last car was a 2005 Honda Accord, so going from that to the Stinger was quite a step up. Tbh, the luddite in me appreciates the analog gauges, the t-bar shifter and the foot-activated e-brake on the base Stinger.

I also like the fact it's the only Stinger model without artificial engine noise. It's due to the head unit for the base stereo I believe, but I don't usually listen to the radio anyway--I'm too busy getting sideways, which is rather easy to do on the factory Bridgestones when the traction control's off. ;)

I wouldn't call her slow by any means, but the chassis engineering means the 2.0 gives new meaning to the old adage about more fun driving a "slow" car at 8/10's vs. driving a fast car at 3/10's. :) I will point out, however, that the GT goes very far in erasing that maxim due to its ability to not feel "high-strung" at commuter speeds. In any case, I hope you have many miles of smiles with your sexy new beast!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Another Optima owner moving to the Stinger, nice!

Welcome aboard, I came from 15’ Optima EX to my 2.0 Stinger as well. Enjoy, it is a super fun car and you will find people wanting to talk to you about it. I have found this forum has been an excellent resource for information and place to meet good people.

Congrats. I too was about to pull the trigger on a base since I couldn't find a dealer to meet me at my asking price for a GT. I settled on a Premium instead which gave me more luxury and technology than the base without having to spend the money on a GT1 to get the same features. Im not a speed junkie coming from a Niro so speed wasn't a concern for me. Im more about how the car looks, gas mileage and technology in the car itself. Ive already done quite a bit to my premium including M&S Rear spoiler, blacked out roof, full debadge, red reflective calipers, brushed aluminum center console vinyl wrap and 20% tints. Once available I will get a cold air intake and that will probably be it for me. Enjoy yours!

Thank you. Yea i remember the old accords, i was a lot more confident in tearing the interior out of those and customizing them than these cars. I remember doing a few of my friends full interior sets with primer, sand paper and spray paint. I thought i was such a master. haha I did the mistake in my old Honda and painted my dash white with black counter parts. The sun would blind my ass.
Yea, ive been wanting to play around with the RWD but im still waiting on the miles to go up a little more. I always try and wait until 3k before i start being a kid. Im not sure i know what your talking about with the artificial engine noise. If your talking about the BOV, i'm a sucker for those BOV. I will be getting one soon for sure.

KIA pipes the engine sound through the speakers, if you put it in sport mode and it sounds louder, it's due to the artificial noise and not the exhaust system. If you go into the custom menu for the drive modes, you will have the option to adjust it.

really? what would they do that? So your saying i can custom it to actually making the noise in the exhaust? Is that what the metal flap is on the cat-back system?

I believe you need to have the Harmon Cardon stereo or Premium model to set the engine sound.

My bad, thought he had the 2.0T Premium.

ok. no i have just the base 2.0t RWD. Is there better tuning for Gas milage? i can only get an average of 30 with no paying attention. If i try harder and drive like a 90 year old, i can get 34mpg.

Different tires, ECO focused, but then that would mean less fun with the car. Who want that!? :)

yea your right. what was i thinking. haha

30mpg is pretty good. Around town I get around 19mpg and highway around 26mpg. I have a heavy foot though and typically cruise at 80mph.
